It is possible to have the time stamp dropped if going to some other formats. It would take tools that the husband would not have, or probably not even know about, to strip the time stamp from the original video format and keep that same video format. The cops, would want to have the original source video to look for stuff like this.

What I'm waiting for is for someone to come back with another theory about the video.

Does it matter at all what type of camera it was recorded on? I suppose if one entered zeros for time or used a date of 1/1/01 or similar when new then there would be no valid time stamp at all?

Yep, there are ifs when it comes to the time stamp.. There is also something else about that recording that hasn't been mentioned.

My local CBS affiliate was off the air for over 30 hours including Thursday night, so can anyone tell me if I missed a new episode, or was it a rerun this week?

No episode, syndicated fill-ins, March Madness basketball game aired.
Oh, thank goodness for that. And I finally have something positive to say about College Basketball saving me from missing something I actually wanted to see... tongue.gif

And now I don't have to troll CBS.com daily, hoping the episode shows up.

The Season 2 premier of Elementary ran last night and I am surprised to see that I am the first to post about it. I think the show is holding up well. Jonny Lee Miller's quirky Holmes is as weirdly likable as ever and Lucy Liu as Dr. Watson is just as appealing. The wariness but growing mutual respect the two have was more fun than ever. Also the Murder of the Week was a patented Holmes thing, with it starting out as looking like one thing but turning into something else. I just hope the rest of the season can come close to retaining the quality as the first episode.

Uh...caught in a time warp? We're still in season one, and while Thurs night's episode was new it wasn't the season opener. CBS has yet to renew it for a S2, but it's success guarantees another season.

I identified the episode as being the first of Season 2 because IMDb listed it as such. When I saw your post, though, I went back to IMDb and saw that it had listed this week's Elementary as both the first episode of Season 2 and Episode 20 of Season 1. Upon mature reflection, I think you are right, this week's show was a continuation of Season 1. Either way, it was damn good television.smile.gif

I watched it tonight, I really enjoyed it too. I thought it was one of best, if not the best episode to date.

Well, Season 2 obviously wouldn't start until September/October.  ;)

But yes, it was a good episode for sure.

I think I liked tonight's episode better than the last one, and I thought the last one was the best so far. I feel like the show has finally found it's way, I'm really enjoying the Sherlock/Watson interactions now and of course, next week is the season finale. At least it's a 2 hour finale.

It's actually two 1-hour episodes ("The Woman" and "Heroine") back-to-back.

Since they got the whole "sober companion" bit out of the way, the show has been better.

This has been a rather inconsistent season. Without knowing I guessed that the main creative force behind the show was writing the Moriarty episodes, and I was right. Robert Doherty, the "creator" of the show, has received "written by" credit for the following episodes-1 (The Pilot), 2 (While You Were Sleeping), 12, (M., the first Moriarty episode), 22 (Risk Management), 23 (The Woman), 24 (Heroine). These episodes seem to have a darker tone than the rest, and overall the writing is a much higher caliber. Many of the other episodes this season have been standard procedural fluff. I suspect next season will be more of the same, and I won't make it a high priority to watch any episodes not specifically written by Doherty.

Easily the best new show of the season.

I agree, but when the competition is dreck like The Following, that isn't saying much. And ratings have continued to decline. Elementary was gifted this season with a plum time slot AND the slot after the SB, and yet the rating for the last episode (1.8) was not much above what is considered to be minimum renewal level. It wouldn't surprise me if it gets moved to a weaker night like Friday.

Maybe I'm seeing something that wasn't there (allusion intended), but there was a quizzical expression on Watson's face when she looked at the shocked expression on Holmes' face. It seemed like she didn't see what Holmes saw.

Did Holmes really see Irene?

I wondered about that too.

Dreck is what the morons want. The very best shows are always on the verge of being canned. Southland is now gone.

The argument could be made that the fracturing of today's audience is the best opportunity for quality shows to be picked up/renewed. It used to be that a show had to be "mainstream" enough to attract 20 million people in order to succeed. Now, thanks to the huge drop in viewing audiences overall, a show can find its niche audience and that is enough. Plus there are those opportunities at the cable networks, HBO, Showtime, and Netflix. I'm not even sure why talents like Bryan Fuller are wasting their time with the broadcast networks anymore, at least until everyone else has passed on the show.

I am leaving out one negative of today's television programming-many of the time slots are taken up by cheaply produced reality shows, the salvation and bane of the broadcast networks.

I'm really liking this show. Though with the 2hour window next week and the Office, we may have to watch something LIVE eek.gif I shake my fist at CBS for not putting anything 'On Demand' or on Hulu mad.gifrolleyes.gif

I know, but my cable company has free on-demand, so I don't have to bother with the laptop and HDMI cable. Yes, I'm lazy like that tongue.gif

And, given the player that CBS.COM uses, you are probably much better off.

CBS shows and "Lost Girl" are the only two things I really miss about cable/DVR (Doctor Who is worth the Amazon price for me). Although I have basic digital cable with the internet, I guess I could get a TIVO for CBS. Hmmm. I wonder if it is worth it for four shows? (HIMYM, BBT, NCIS, Elementary)

When I saw his name in the opening credits, I was curious to see who he would be playing. I thought that the finale last night was brilliant with great writing and performances, especially by Natalie Dormer (who has played schemers and connivers before in The Tudors and now in Game of Thrones). Who wuuda thunk that she was Moriarty? The bit at the end where Holmes let her know that she wasn't quite as clever as she thought and that "the mascot" Watson had read her correctly was aces. The entire conclusion was well played. I sure thought that Holmes had lapsed back into drugs. Sure, you saw Watson telling Holmes to "let her win" but the appearance that it was for Holmes own good was flashed in front of us just enough to make it plausible. Once it was fleshed out as the show closed, you looked back and thought "Ah ha". The whole thing had a Usual Suspects feel to it. Anyone want to bet that Moriarty manages to evade prison and resumes the cat and mouse game with Holmes next season? They could play it the same way that Castle uses the conspiracy that killed Kate's mother and barely missed killing her. Just drop it into a storyline occasionally to keep it alive.

Great season ender. I didn't expect the Moriarty arc to end this soon. As mentioned maybe we shouldn't count her down just yet.

They can hold off the return of Moriarty to any future point in the series. It would make a good ending whenever the series ends. And every time we see a new villain, we would wonder if he/she/it was related to Moriarty.
