Depending on how I searched ebay I got different results. Here's some used Duets for $48 or make offer, & free shipping.

I have 2 Duets I'm using as well and I purchased them both from eBay and they have been working great. I'm watching the Cowboys vs Giants on OTA right now! smile.gif

Well, you need something to access the tuners or DVR recordings. I believe an Xbox 360 works. Due to my home network setup, I'm not able to confirm anything, but the xbox is mecia center extender. So, you don't necessarily need a pc. That's more about what need the attached box to do on that TV. I like to watch live sports that are blacked out in my area. This requires the use of VPN and there are only so many devices that I can use with a VPN such as PC or smart mobile device.

I have a coworker who use to work at Comcast, and their goal was to have at least one box in every home. They're may be some issue with being able to control the PPV or VOD. Personally, I think they just want to rent the box.

Many common modern display cards; especially Nviidia, can't handle on-the-fly switching without adding a stuttering video effect during soft-telecine scenes. Non-premium TV channels such as NBC and CBS don't do this; so, even very old display cards can handle deinterlacing this content.
Having said that, if you have a HDTV hooked up to it, you should look into the stuttering that can be caused by framerate interpolation trying to synch up to your display card's timings. Reclock is a great utility that can help video from stuttering.
The 29/59 bug sThat's related to premium TV channels only; which you can't get without a cable card tuner and cableTV subscription to that channel.

I have come across a couple postings such as this where people are having 29/59 problems on CBS, and in this case also on NBC. There’s a couple people on this page with such problems.

Maybe this is not the “real” 29/59 bug, I have no idea. But it is a problem.

I just installed an HD 6450 video card & after installing the latest driver my problem went away. Using WMC7 and 4-1-1-Info, it indicates the frame rate still jumps, however the picture does not.
