Panasonic 50U50 $998 at Walmart

Apparently Panasonic has released a 60" version of their entry level 1080p basic plasma. Now at Walmart for $998. See Sunday circular. Highly regarded new panel for 2012 with very good blacks and upgraded video processing. No 3D or Smart TV, but excellent entry level bargain with top specs similar to upper models but without all of the custom controls and screen filter. But a best bang for buck choice in entry level 1080p category, but be mindful of glare.

Yea I meant to put 60U50 in the title as I said in the post. The 50U50/54 has been at $649 and $599 at other retailers and Costco. The $998 is a good deal on the 60", and is arguably a better TV than the Samsung 51E530 and LG 50PA6500 at the same price, based upon your preference.

As far as I am aware, so far Walmart is the only brick and mortar store carrying the 60" version of the U50. It showed up last week in their Sunday circular, so it may be a limited shipment. But who are you trying to price match? Surely you have a Walmart nearby. But I wonder if this model may soon show up at Sears or Kmart, or perhaps as a Black Friday deal somewhere.
