Paramount released both Fatal Attraction and Star Trek IV as part of their Paramount Directors Series on VHS and laserdisc. I can't find any other titles for the series. Were any ever released? What happened to it? Were any others planned?
When I clicked on your thread headline, those were the only two titles that came to mind. I think that may have been it. Sort of like the Blu-ray "Sapphire Series," it was a branding initiative that fizzled quickly. Of course, an added problem was that the "Director's Series" was contingent upon getting the directors to participate.
The standard LD release of Star Trek IV was preferred over the Director's Series copy. The latter had a forced introduction from Leonard Nimoy at the beginning, and no chapter stops. The only way to get past it was to fast forward every time, and it was about 10 minutes long. The disc was otherwise the same transfer as the other copy and had no other supplemental features.Edited by Josh Z - 9/4/12 at 10:56am
