Connecting cat6 keystone jack to a cat5e cable

When I did my wiring for Audio distribution, I buried cat5e cable for the HTD lync6 system. Now I'm trying to wire everything.
I connected cat6 keystone jack to one end of the cat5e in the media room and I terminated the other end using RJ45. When I tested using the cable tester, I see nothing.
Should I be getting cat5e keystone jacks instead of using cat6 keystone jacks? Please advice.

It's probably a different cable, or a bad termination.

Cat 6 connector on a cat 5e cable won't matter.

Using Cat6 Keystone on cat5E is fine, in fact Cat6 Connectors inc cat6 spec RJ45s are usualy higher spec/quality than Cat5 connectors..

Its most likely A bad termination, A Break in the Cat 5 Cable, or you have used the wrong RJ45 connectors for the type of Cat5...

I assume you would of used Cat5e Solid core for your runs, RJ45 crimp/ Modular for Solid cable must be used, If you use RJ45 Modular crimp connectors for Stranded cat 5 this can introduce issues especially on longer runs over 10-15mtrs,Using Stranded connectors on Solid Core can also Break the Wire where the pins press into the solid core wire..

thanks for the response. I have a crimpler and used RJ45 connectors. Didn't even know I have to use specific crimplers and RJ45's. My bad. IMG_1863.JPG 2483k .JPG file
Anyhow, I have attached the pic of the RJ45 terminator (not clear).

It got the cat6 clip up in the pic (the color coding goes as dotted Green, solid green, doted orange, solid blue, dotted blue, solid orange, dotted brown, solid brown) and the other end of the cat5e cable is attached to a cat6 keystone jack (568A). Did I mess up the connection?

Good grief man, that's gotta be the worst quality 2.5 MB pic I've ever seen. smile.gif

That's the correct color code for 568A..with the clip down on the RJ-45. If it's the correct cable, and there's not a cut in the cable, that's why your tester wouldn't show anything. Flip them around and put a new end on, should be good.

Having A multi-meter/Lan Cable tester on hand to check for continuity /correct termination is A must smile.gif...
