yes, only I can decide it but now that they have been out for months I am asking for advice on things like the pq, which you did answer!
I did know the spec differences, but was hoping that for example, the extra gradient levels did help make the picture better on the GT. When they first came out there was debate as to whether it (and the dual core) would improve pq, sounds like in your opinion it doesn't.
I route everything through my Onkyo so the extra hdmi ports don't matter.
I agree it is also a piece of 'furniture' and the GT does look better, and I am buying a nice wooden entertainment credenza to put it on.
I do have a bright day time room, is the ease of switching between regular and bright room modes worth the extra cost?
I seems to me the only practical differences are looks, thx certification, bright room mode and the extra hdmi port.
Opinions?

The picture quality is virtually identical between the two. They have the exact same panel, exact same AR filter, and pretty much the same electronics. The only difference is the design and features.
The extra features that the GT50 has over the ST50 are listed in post #2 of the GT50 thread, so look at them and decide for yourself if one or more of them will justify you spending more for a GT50.
