Need help picking out a 65"+ TV

Hi All,

Need some help in picking out a new TV. I bought my first HDTV in Dec/2003, since then I have not upgraded. I am finally in the market and looking at all of the options is dizzying. I need a few recommendations please, must be 65" or more.

Purpose in order of importance:
1. Regular HD TV show watching
2. Movies (really need a TV that has good black levels, we watch a lot of "dark" movies)
3. Sports
4. Games
5. 3D - not important.

Budget:$3500

Receiver:
Buying a new receiver as well, so all of my input needs should be taken care of through the receiver, including internet.

The Sharp 70" looks like a good buy, but I can't figure out the difference among all of the models.

The Elite is out of my price range, it definitely looked the best!

Thanks!

OK, very nice.

What's the downside in getting a plasma versus lcd?

Also looking for like 2-3 more suggestions so I can go out and look at them in person.

Anyone keen on the Sharp 70"' TVs?

Check out the Sharp LC-80LE632U thread. Many happy owners and can be bought online for 3700-3800 delivered, just a little above your budget. The Sharp LC-70LE640U got a good review from CNET and is available for only $2200. Plasmas are best in darker environments. The Sharps have screens which greatly reduce reflections in comparison to plasmas, if you have more ambient light in your viewing room.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll check out the Sharp thread, but the 80" is going to be too big for my room, just measured the area. However, 65-70" will work nicely.
