Acoustic Mat for Floor?

Thread Starter
All, I am looking for a high quality material I could put down on my current TG flooring in my attic that will eventually be my theater floor. I have read for hours and days on end on the soundproofingcompany and any number of other sites. I am not going to pull up the existing floor to "properly" isolate it. I am just trying to find the best/most cost efficient way to deaden the floor. Yes I know about flanking. I am looking to put down some type of material, whether it be green glue, MLV or some type of acoustic mat and then float another layer of T&G OSB on top of that. Thoughts?

SoundProofingcompany.com sells the Serenity Mat. That sounds like it would work for you. If you still have questions after reading their site, call 'em and talk to John or Ted. They will treat you right and have lots of experience in this space.

Thanks, I have not been to that site. I just emailed them to price out the acoustik mat.

For the readership-at-large, you would want a compressible layer, not MLV. MLV is nice and heavy, but not resilient
