FWIW, the NMT forums seem to indicate you can use the lite BD menu to switch between standard and 3D. I'm still waiting for mine to arrive, but will be very interested in this as well.

Edit: Since the conversations I've read on NMT regarding BD menus and 2D/3D ISOs often included Halfelite, I'm sure he can speak more to this. wink.gif

Well i ripped the full disc of The Avengers and like before it started with the standard version, so i tried the BD-Lite menu and went to titles and it had both versions, so i clicked on the second one and it crashes on me, so not sure what i can do, maybe just rip just the 3D version and standard version separately.

No improvement in network performance with 3D BR (via smb or NFS). Going to try watching the 2D Blu ray that had a lot of dropouts shortly to see if that is at least better. What a frustrating experience just trying to test the A400 so I can put together a review...

are you running the network release or the forum release?

27-Dec forum release. I assume t he network release doesn't have the DTSMA patch (I confirmed last night with the forum release at least with one problematic movie that the DTSHD audio dropouts has been fixed). Something is definitely wrong with the A400, whether network or the device itself. As I try to navigate through the network browser I get frequent hangups, or it just sits there thinking for a minute before I can move on (this is the frustrating part as I try to jump around various files for testing and it was literally taking me close to five minutes just to navigate to one file)

forum and network are the same, so yes it has also the DTSMA patch, the only difference with network firmware is that it uses different settings for network, so give it a try, but according to the Forum it will not much change when it comes to streaming.

I know for me, with the two new firmwares, my boxes won't play back ANY of the Jellyfish bitrate files properly. But it will still play back a bunch of BD ISOs fine. But I still ran into issues with other BD ISOs as well.

Well, playing 3D Blu ray from attached USB drive plays back fine on A400 as long as it isn't a seamless branch (i.e. Toy Story is a mess). However, I expected this behavior since BD Lite cannot play back seamless branch properly (all the more reason why the PCH really needs to add support for 3D mvc mkv)

Hopefully sigma can bring a fix for branched, and agree on the mkv mvc

Is that with all players or only Sigma products for branching titles? I only ask because I've played back branching titles on my Boxee Box and PCH C200 before without issues using BD Lite. But only after I selected the right title track did it play everything properly.

Although the most recent branching title I played, Total Recall (2012), had some issues on every media player I tried when playing it over the network. Even playing the disc had some issues for me on BD players too.

Every media player that does not have a full bluray license is effected by it. realtek, sigma, all chips have had the issues dont know about the boxee box,

My Dune 3 Prime plays it just fine

the Prime 3 has a full Bluray stack, the problem with seamless branching and non bd stack is, When the player has the bluray stack the bluray virtual machine pieces together all the playlists and plays it just fine, When you get into bdlite with no bd stack, the player loads a single M2ts at a time, then has to keep loading them one after another, as far as a i know no current players or from the past gens supports seamless playing of next file there is always a pause so until the can seamlessly play next file it will be an issue.

The med1000x3d behaves the same way with seamaless branching titles, first track drops here and there and 2 track works fine.

I downloaded the latest firmware (the FORUM one) and now every 3D crashes my A400 back to the main menu and when I try to play them again it defaults to the first movie on the drive (alphabetically) and plays that... mad.gif

no issues here with 3D iso with forum firmware
post #1067 of 2288
It's been working great here too with my 3D BD ISOs. I have the forum firmware and then I installed the network fimware.

3D Blu Ray ISOs play fine (from an attached drive) with the latest firmware. Over the network it still sucks smile.gif

I've played several 3D BD ISOs over my network on my a400 in the past couple of days. They worked great. I had no audio or video issues when playing them back over my network. i'm using SAMBA shares and the network firmware.
Now I can't do it using NFS shares, those still had some issues when i tried it over NFS.

I'm picking up the Avatar 3D BD tonight from BestBuy. So the first thing I'll do is rip it to a BD ISO and then I'll play it back on my A400 to see how it is.
I wonder if it has something to do with the drive or that it's connected to the external SATA port?
I haven't even tried any 3D BD ISOs from an external or the internal drive. Since I only got my 3D TV a couple of days ago and as i mentioned playback of the 3D BD ISOs I have did not have any issues over my network samba shares.

What are some 3D BD titles that have very high bitrates? If there is one I really want I can purchase it from bestBuy tonight when I pick up the Avatar 3D BD. I think the newest 3D BD ISO title I have is the Avengers. And it was one of the 3D BD ISO titles I watched in it's entirety over my network with out any problems. But I have no idea if it is one of the higher bitrate 3D BD titles.

then you have already one of the titles with very high bitrate, the avengers has peaks at around 96mbps as far as i know, i think Titanic should be similar
post #1073 of 2288
Thanks!! i'll pick up the Titanic 3D BD too.

EDIT: crap!! the store I'm going to doesn't have it in stock. I'll need to get it shipped to me.

Yes, Avengers is the problematic one for a lot of people (myself included). I never picked up Titanic b/c I believe it is on 2 discs
post #1075 of 2288
Two Discs for Titanic.??? I just ordered it. Hopefully it will show up by Saturday. I'm ripping the Avatar 3D BD to an ISO right now. That's a full disc. It's showing up as 50GB.
Hmmm.... I watched the first 70 minutes of my Avatar 3D BD ISO. While it did look gorgeous, the experience was very different from when I watched the Avengers 3D BD ISO.
With Avatar, I had the spinning circle pop up for anywhere from a split second to two seconds. It must have happened 25 to 30 times during the 70 minutes that I watched.

Make sure to post on the NMT firmwares what movies it happens on what audio you had playing and from what type of source.

As to a A-400 purchase, what do you folks recommend, buy direct from Popcorn Hour or purchase from Diamond Design?

PCH list Amazon as a reseller but Amazon does not have a listing for the A-400.
