POPCORN HOUR A-400 is coming soon - Page 54

Not using a NMJ tool box of any kind. All movies are in the same "movie" folder on my synology.

thanks,
James

Ok, thinking about a simpler way of solving this small issue with titles showing up out of order without using the NMT toolbox. Can I not simply drop an identically-titled JPG in the "movie" folder and have it attach to the respective title? Oh wait, prolly not as the auto scan function will override it? Damn.

Wouldn't it be nice if you could simply re-arrange the titles right on the 400 and have it "stick"? tongue.gifbiggrin.gif

E image has nothing to do with the naming as far as a know. It's the name of the file and the metadata it picks up that it goes by. If you want to manually control things you'll need to either go the toolbox route or another media manager.

Btw if you make a change via toolbox the auto scan or discover will not overwrite the changes you have made.

^ cool thanks...didn't know that re modding files manually. That makes things much more agreeable; I can change what I need and still run auto for the other 98%.

So I'll chalk this one up as a bit of intuition and blind luck...

So I'm trying to figure out how I can get LOTRings 6 parts of 3 movies to show up separately but with data.

Listed as the titles with "part 1" and "part 2" yields 6 different titles...but of course no data as the engine doesn't recognize the "parts" segment.

So then I attempt to cleverly label one of the parts "THE" and the other "The" hoping one they will both show up...no dice...and of course I cannot name them identically.

So I think about what else I can do and I come up with simply adding a space at the end of part two...who knows?

Well, at first all I see is a single title for each movie (3 covers), but on a fluke I enter to the title screen for one and hit "episodes" and lo and behold there's the second part, embedded!

Now, did the simple space do this, or does any differentiation in the capitalization/spacing of an otherwise identical title cause this?

None of the above?

I was blown away...guess I'm having a boring Friday night, lol.

How did this happen?!

Left the inlaws with child tonight, said they put on QOSolace and was fine till halfway through...froze up and got the circle for 5 mins before they turned it off.

Poor bastards, lol.

^ brilliant response. Why litter the forums with your garbage? Surely there's a better avenue for it? Wait, don't answer that.

Moving along, it was an mkv which some seem to now be having an issue with according to what I've read in the last few days.

In addition; I'm now getting a stuck "please do not turn off power" message after an effort to restart.

Over 30 minutes, now. I'm timid to do anything for obvious reasons...any suggestions?

Thanks,
James

Haven't had an issue with any of the mkvs I've played. Most times at least from what vie seen mkvs are more stable and have been that way for this player.

This is why I haven't bought the A400. I have the boxee box and it does everything needed for streaming networked movies with the only problem of audio dropouts when trying to play DTS HD MA. The boxee downloads all of the cover art to the unit(not the share) and you can sort by newest, A-Z, Z-A or recently added with the punch of a remote button. You can run through 700 movie covers in 10-15 seconds and pick any genre as listed in imdb. Why is it so difficult for other units to do this? If the A400 or the Dune base3d had the navigation of the boxee I would buy them in a second for playing DTS HD audio.
???

The navigation of the A400 is not bad at all IMO and I used to have a Boxee.
Ok, we'll that's good to hear, maybe I misinterpreted some of the post on the PCH forum. I used to have the A-110 before the boxee where I had to use yamj and transfer a jukebox directory. The nav was awful hanging all of the time when trying to navigate though the cover art. Does the A-400 download the info to the unit itself?
Yes. It downloads to your media database.
Ok, just so I'm clear before I order this thing. I would setup the A-400 to scan the movie files that are stored on my NAS share and it scans the file names, matches them to a movie database like imdb or similar and downloads the cover art and movie info to an internal storage on the A-400? If that is correct does it have a built in cache storage like the boxee or would I need to install a hard drive inside the unit?

How do you edit movies and TV Shows that were scrapped wrong?

If you are not using the toolbox, you can edit it on the jukebox
post #1608 of 2287
Just curious does each movie have to be in its own folder?

You can either correct it with NMJtoolbox or right from the UI. if its one movie that needs correcting UI is easy enough. If you correct it in NMJtoolbox if you ever do a complete rescan scan it will need to be corrected again. If you do it from the UI the A400 will store the information along side the movie file for future scans to pick up

No they do not need to be in there own folder.

That's good to know that you can do it from the UI.

Even though they don't need to be in their own folder, mine are like that because that is how I started out. So it works either way.

Wow, so a toolbox mod is dropped upon a re-scan? Good to know. I have so many I'd end up modding it's simply not worth it. I'll make do with the GUI and love with some movies out of order, I suppose.

Once you have the toolbox you would not ever need to do a rescan. The toolbox is so much faster and you have complete control over everything. I would not do it another way. Trust me, if you ever decided to try it you would probably be upset that you didn't do it sooner.

Hey Guys and gals,

I forgot to order the wifi dongle for my A-400. Do you know if there is a generic model I can get from Amazon or somewhere local (like frys) that will be compatible?

I just don't want to have to wait for 2 weeks to have the PCH version come in from hong kong.

Thanks!

A rescan yes, an update no. If you are just updating the movies that are in your collection a rescan won't be needed. I've never lost anything when updating the a400 database to pick up new files.
^ thanks. What you're saying makes sense of course, but I swear some titles that I've populated into my nas were not added to the jukebox until I "rescanned" the whole damn thing. I realize that sounds nuts, but I distinctly recall that occurring a few times. I have added a couple dozen in the last three days...we'll see what happens later when I try the "update", straightaway.

^ thanks. Is it "normal" for the 400 to lose the share if it (the share) is powered down/removed temporarily and then put back on the network? I must have lost power for a good while yday while at work so upon my arrival home I needed to re-start my nas. Now the 400 doesn't recognize the share and I- stupidly- reloaded the identical info for a "new share" (my 400 NEVER finds my NAS anymore) and of course it said it already existed. So do I need to erase the share and simply input it again?

thanks

is hasn't been normal for me. My WHS and two unRAID setups are not on 24/7. So I turn them on and off periodically as well as turning off my A400. I'm able to access my shares without issue when the serves are up and running.
Ok, thanks. What I don't understand is why it simply doesn't try to "find" it again by running the info it has. I know it has it lol as it tells me the share already exists when I attempt to create the share again.
