Thanks for reminding me. I'll first try standard SMB and if I run into issues, I'll create an NFS share. I can stream regular blu-ray .iso's over SMB to my NTV550 over 10/100 without issues, so at least there's some hope for the A-400 (my network is Gigabit, but the NTV is only 100).

Not sure what the UPS folks are seeing

I see UPS is closed on Friday, so I should definitely get it Monday. I guess I won't be waiting around for it on Friday then.

I see tracking info at your site but no UPS tracking number. I'd like to get that number.
Once I put them in our e-commerce site I lose the tracking number and instead it generates your page your seeing straight from UPS or from the Post Office (so our data mirrors UPS). However, if you really need tracking I can go into the UPS software and hunt yours down so just email me @ james@diamondhomedesign.com (not PM as it would be slower response).

We rushed to even get to UPS after 7. Post office was long closed (we had 8 players to modify with USB/HDD as well). Post Office units are stacked and ready for drop off Friday (they are open Friday). UPS is closed but for those that ordered air delivery I believe those are being made on Friday.

Thank you for your patience. One request, if you have issues, just let us know and we'll pass it along for additional firmware. Sometimes the downside of being the kid on the block with the newest and latest hardware is you also have the newest and latest software in it rather than something thats gone through lots of fixes. That being said, our test unit was very solid and very impressive. They may all be great or they may all need a week of "patience" smile.gif

I have been reading the NMT forum and here as well as information has been coming out. Has anyone seen any issue's with HD audio drop out (a-la boxee box) for HD audio? I am not interested in 3D iso's, so this is really the only sticking point for me for purchasing one of these streamers. All of my content will be local hard drive,2D BR, and HD audio.

Thanks!
When someone gets this box, could you please check to see if it will play any/all of the following audio formats:

DSD file in either dsf, dff or iso format
MLP file in iso format
PCM file in 6 channel 192khz/24bit format (flac, pcm, wav, ape)
PCM file with an associated .cue file for navigation
ALAC format (m4a) 192khz/24bit or 96khz/24bit
TRUHD audio only format
DTS-MA audio only format

Thank you in advance.

P.S. If you need an example of any of these files to test, please pm me.

If anyone gets one and starts testing 3d ISO files if you get stutter over samba try unpacking it to a bdmv folder, been a few reports that ISO over samba stutter but bdmv does not. Would be nice to see some more input. Also new firmware released today on NMT forums
Code:
Release date : 23 November 2012
Firmware version : 05-01-121122-24-POP-422-000

1. Known Issues from previous Releasenotes (Status Update)
Fixed - Some ts/m2ts/BDMV will hang in the middle of the playback
Fixed - Some ts/m2ts/BDMV cannot get the movie length (and thus cannot do trick play)
Not Fixed - Connecting both internal sata and e-sata harddisk at the same time, the system cannot boot up
Not Fixed - External subtitle is shown inside the movie instead of black bar at the bottom
Fixed - Some app-market app crash when exit
Fixed - ts/m2ts/bd-lite often hang after seek or trick mode
Fixed - Certain BDMV cannot be played issue (black screen forever)
Fixed - Pgs subtitle sometimes does not show up
Fixed - Tv black-out after playing back dvd with tvmode 1080p24
Fixed - DTS-HD audio track is split into one DTS-HD and one DTS track
Fixed - TrueHD audio track is split into one TrueHD and one DD core audio track

2. Other Fixes in this build
   - Fixed ssif bookmark not working issue
   - Fixed subtitle get out of screen in zoom too big

   - SD Cards with Class 10 currently don't work because of an kernel issue, Sigma is already informed and will start looking at it next week after they come back from Thanks Giving Holiday
   - On BD playback changing chapter sometimes let the player freeze (should be better in this build but not fully fixed)
   - Youtube with 1080p24 will get flickering

I thought the extra $8 was for air shipping from China to the USA?(from China to Diamond Home Design) I selected ground shipping for my A400 delivery(From Diamond Home Design to me) which it looks like that is how it was shipped since it's been sitting in Roanoke all day since UPS is basically closed for most domestic shipping options today. Of course if Diamond had received them a day earlier I would have had it in my hands on Wednesday instead of Monday, but delays happen. We will still get the units before those being shipping through the PCH store.(it looks like those will get shipped out on the 30th)

Just reading the stuff that was "fixed" in the 11-23 firmware is enough to make me run for the hills as fast as I can from this player. Looks like another typical pch launch and if so, very disappointing..,

x2 , pch need to invest more in proper engeeniers than in marketing,

i hope a review some from us users about the a400, i read some of networkmediatank forum about the A400, and everytime a thread is on fire about bugs, the moderators allways trying to convince that the problem reside somewhere else , not the player , even hard drives have being blame about 3D shutters.

i dont no about united states consumer laws, but in EU the law is clear about selling a product that doesnt perform with the specs on the box, its called defective product.

sybas has 2 years to fix does bugs, but in netherlands the consumer can go even further for a total refund
Quote:
When are you entitled to free repair or replacement?
The seller is liable for the proper performance of your purchase for a period of at least 2 years. If the purchased item becomes defective within 6 months or if, within this period, the performance of the purchased item is not what you might reasonably expect of it, it is assumed that the lack of conformity already existed at the time of purchase. This does not apply, if the seller can prove that the defect is your own fault. If the defect becomes apparent between 6 and 24 months after purchase, it is your responsibility to show that the defect or fault already existed at the time you purchased the item. You are entitled to repair or replacement of your purchase free of charge, if a defect becomes apparent through no fault of your own within a period of 2 years. Repair or replacement must take place within a reasonable period and without any serious inconvenience to you.

my advice to all europeans a400 owners keep the forums reports with bugs it might be need it after 6 months.

Looks like I am going to have to wait for several months. Hopefully then it will have less bugs.
I was going to run out and buy one of these but seeing how they cheaped out on using such a low memory pretty much sealed my deal. They at least could have used extra memory for buffering purposes which would really help over performance. Having only 512MB of memory is pretty lame for a brand new player on the market that can play 3D and high bitrate files. Also, I have a Popcorn A-110 player. When it plays a large MKV file the audio is not synced with the video. There is ALWAYS a delay. And for some strange reason Popcorn didn't include an audio fix/sync feature. I also have a Dune Pime player. I can hook up that Dune to the same connections as the Popcorn was and play the same videos that had audio problems and they would play just fine with the Dune. An obvious bug in the Popcorn and that player is years old. Having such an old player with such bugs scares me away from the A400 model. Too bad, I was really getting excited.
if you guys read several topics on the link below (german popcorn.de ) using the google translator is completly understandable the bugs of this player, its a complete rant of users returning the A400.

http://www.popcornforum.de/forumdisplay.php?fid=90

Ps. next firmware 1 to 2 weeks wait.
Every media player launches with bugs not sure why we are posting consumer laws lol, But as long as they are actually talking back to people saying what is confirmed what is not confirmed and firmwares are coming out in a timely fashion I dont see an issue yet. Seems still a lot of New users have the players I have not seen any seasoned user reporting on one yet, I should get one monday and I will also go through the list to see If i can produce any of the bugs, I dont have a 3d tv yet its my next purchase but will test everything else out.

I think Brajesh should get his monday also im sure he will post his findings as well and be a good comparison since he has has a lot of players also.

I can't wait to get my A-400 to try it out. The C-200 also had some bugs when it first came out. But my C-200 has been rock solid for almost three years now. I would expect the A-400 to get the bugs fixed like they did with the C-200. Especially since the A-400 is high profile player since it's the first one with dual core and 3D. And they have exclusive use of the chip right now.

I'm already considering ordering a second A-400 so I can get my order in the queue. Although the good sale prices on the other PCH products this weekend is making that decision difficult.

I gotta say I love your optimism. Not sure I would go out of my way to order a second one, especially using the C200 as an example since it took way too long to get to a stable state. Let's see if Syabas can step up to the plate and make the A300 stable first...
I love my A110 but and it's taken me a long time to get it 'perfect' and I love having 10 USB drives connected and all of my rips on one jukebox so I already know I'm in for an uphill battle with the A400 when it arrives this week. I just hope I don't get too frustrated with what it can't do that my A110 already does and decide to return it.

One person's optimism is another person's insanity! If you had you c200 at launch and stuck with it since then, you know what you are in for! :-)
I like trying new toys as much as the next guy, but pch has repeatedly launched products that should have been tested further..
