Are there stereo amps for less than $500 with audyssey built in?

I just bought two floor standing speakers(PSB T6), now looking for an 2.0 stereo amp with room correction built-in not necessarily audyssey . My living room is untreated and opens up to the kitchen with lots more walls. I'm guessing I will probably be getting distortions from all the walls and the wood flooring. Any suggestions? I'm thinking of getting a Marantz HT w/ audyseey built-in, but don't know if that is the best choice since I only need it for two speakers which are not even hooked up to my TV.

Keep in mind that a 5.1 AVR w/Audyssey will still allow you to run Audyssey on just 2 speakers connected. smile.gif

so you would not be using the receiver when watching TV? When would you use them?

I have another audio setup for TV viewing, that one is 5.1 system located on the TV room. This one is for the living room solely for audio and will never be used with the tv, I really only need a stereo amp for this one, but looking for something with some sort of room correction to give a flatter response to the sound.

Is room correction recommended for stereo speakers anyway? or does it distort sound in some way? I'm new to this.

I don't believe room correction distorts the sound at all. You'll always the the option to turn it offf though if you dont like the results.

Room correction will EQ the speakers connected to the AVR, regardless of whether there are 2, 3, 4, ... etc. speakers connected.

Is there a reason why room correction is rarely included on stereo amps, but common on home theater amps?

Likely because there's no market for it and far more demand for 5.1/7.1 AVRs.

The vast majority of stereo integrated 'amps' are analogue only, very few are digital.

The only Marantz stereo receiver I can find on their website is the SR4023 and it doesn't mention Audyssey.

Even if a digital stereo amp/receiver has Audyssey, for <$500 it's likely to be an entry-level version, not more than MultEQ.

Don't expect room correction esp. lower versions to work miracles in a difficult room. Better to treat the room and concentrate on sub EQ.
