My HW300T supports 1080i ATSC broadcasts. According to the German review I read, the HW300T can either display 1920 x 540 or 960 x 1080 using wobulation. My AMD video card can output 1080i. 1080i is 1920 x 540 displayed twice (interlaced) to form a 1920 x 1080 picture.

There is speculation on the forum that most of the LED projectors are clones because they may have the same 1280 x 800 DLP chip, my guess is that they too can display 1920 x 1080 if set in the1080i60 mode.

I sent a series of test images to my projector and they seemed sharper but the optics is not the best. But that could be wishful thinking on my part.

So if 1080i is possible on these projectors then is it worth it?

May I suggest that you try setting your projector to receive a 1080i signal from your computer to the projector? The resolution and refresh frequency of my projector appear at the top once a signal is connected.

I am very curious about the results especially from people that also have 1080p projectors

Have fun!
