Hey thanks for the links.........

I tried them both but the first one re-directs you to thier homepage which says it is "suspended".......

The second link is for a MAC which won't work for me, I need the PC version.

Thanks,

I just noticed this, too. What's happening!? I really hope it's just temporary. MakeMKV was pretty awesomesauce. Are there any similarly simple alternatives?

They either A) didn't pay their bill, B) violated some aspect of their web host contract, or C) DOJ'ed.
I was thinking the third answer but they'll just pop up somewhere else.

This link should work to get the latest version-

not going to help much without a license

Hopefully this won't last too long. My beta license ends soon.

Well for some reason that said it was version 1.7.5 when it downloaded (not 1.7.4) but when it started it still said it was too old and to enter a key. Do I maybe need to un-install MakeMKV first then re-install.

This is going to suck but I can still use mkvToolNix instead, I suppose.

What are you going to use mkvToolNix for? Are you intending to rip with another app?
Along with ClownBD. It is a bit more work to do it this way but you do have more control.

I already have used this method before but use(d?) MakeMKV more often for the simplicity of it.

This is a really crappy development. Hope they get the site back up soon as I just started a fresh install on my HTPC and I kind of need MakeMKV. Scratch that, totally need it.

I posted this over in assassin's thread but this thread is a better place for it..

Anyone have a comparison between using BluRip and ClownBD?

Without paying for rgistration code, the free version expires by itself (hard coded inside the release I believe) and you must download latest version from their site to continue the use. The latest version is 1.7.7. If you install anything older than that, it won't work.

Mine was expired already this morning when I checked.

I could roll back to the last installed version; that may not work either but it is worth a try.

If someone has a recent key, that would be nice.. Anyone?

My last version (1.7.6) expired around the end of Aug. This latest version expires at 10/13/2012 according to the app.

Does changing the date on your computer work? If you imaged your computer before you installed MakeMKV (I did, luckily) then you can restore a previous image and install MakeMKV 1.7.7 and then you'd at least be good for another month until this all gets settled.

Go into "help" and see if you can get the key and post it FWIW.

Or better yet, if you have the installer, send me a PM and maybe email it to me.

Possible assassin could host it as well?

Band-aide solution that's good for a few more weeks.

No, I'm using the free beta. No keys.

Try the link posted by pbmpharmacist. You need 1.7.7.

Cool, I'll do that when I get home but we need something to fix this in the next few weeks..

Agreed. I'd hate to have to move on to another program. But we may have no choice.

If the source code were available... My son's a programmer and I bet he'd be able to take out the expiry coding within the source code..

Let's hope that Mike just forgot to pay a bill or something.

Because, if MakeMKV is done, those of us who have done essentially all our BR archiving in OS X are going to have no constantly-updated options.

And, out of pure self-interest, those of us who actually paid for his software would be left high and dry.

If this was the work of the big, bad MPAA or its governmental/ ISP minions, the irony of this move is that it would cause folks to buy FEWER BR's, and be more likely to get their BR movies through more nefarious means online.
I've heard that some of the best stuff from nefarious means is in BR Folder structure though.

This shouldn't be lost on people as it is an excellent point.

Agreed - if they want to treat me like a pirate, then that is what I will become. Really sick of this crap. Let's hope this was just a web hosting bill issue or something, and not an MPAA move. While I did buy it, so I have a key, I would be pretty pissed about the loss of updates and support.
