The Impero 18 would be a solid choice, it works well in 6.5ft3 tuned to about 33hz. That "1000 watt" amp only puts out about 580 watts, so there isnt a reason to buy it over a 500 watt amp (the Yung 500watt without boost is a good choice). The impero 18 with 500watts will have a couple db more output then the pair of 15" daytons from above. But would slightly exceed xmax, and really shouldnt have more power then 500 watts. The 15" setup also goes deeper in the same box size. The HF15 you originally wanted would have about 6-9db less output capability.

As an alternative, I have an 18Sound 21lw1400 or RCF LF21N451 that I will sell. PM me for details. These 21s displace more than 18s for a single box solution, and perform very well in a 10 cube enclosure tuned to 32.


Also everyone shits when you tell them you have 21" subwoofers.

Having followed WiSounds build threads for some time, I can honestly say that his builds are Rock-Solid. I wouldn't hesitate to pick one up if I needed one.
Wi is also an excellent resource for sound reinforcement setup information, should you need some advice in that area.

LowRider 18 is one of the best bang for the buck 18s out there, and easily serviceable if you torch one.

The one change I would make is going to the EP4000 or EP2500 amp as the EP2000 will be slightly underpowered when you go to 2 subs. The ones I recommended will give plenty of power for 2 drivers and more than enough for a single driver.

I don't find those amps to be that good on sub. Never had the EP4000 personally, but owned the Behringer EP2500 and EP1500 and didn't find they could cope well on sub bass. That's being ragged the hell out of in a pa situation, whereas the QSC RMX series amps I owned at the time did.

Something like the T.amp 1400 or T.amp 2400 I heard are very good on sub, from many people who have used them. As they say they have an oversized(many massive caps and very large torridal) power supply inside them.
Whereas the Behringer amps don't have oversized power supplies required for heavy duty sub bass.... And they tend to clip much easier on sub, fine on upper bass,mids and highs I heard though.

The Behringer amps for house party use should be ok, just depends how hard your caining them on the sub bass frequencies... Too hard they will clip easily, pretty sure the new Behringer EP4000 isn't much different than the older EP2500, could be wrong though.

If you get into that price bracket, an Ashly KLR series would be the choice. Flat to 3hz and durable. I beat the **** out of my KLR3200s and 2000s and they have run problem free.

I've used my EP2500 to power my 4 Mach 5 IXL18.4's for the past 6 years and the amp does a great job of pushing the subs. I have no doubts that its putting out the full 2000 watts to the subs. Look around and you will see that these amps are the default amp to go to for sub bass power.

That really depends on the maximum SPL and type of music played, with any EQ kind of boosting though?

I have an EP-2500 running my IB in the house wired to 2 Ohms per channel. I often run it hard and have never clipped it in the 6 or 7 years it has been in use. I have another EP-4000 pushing 2 Lowrider 18's in big ported boxes for my outdoor rig (party rig). It gets pushed REALLY hard to the point of dimming lights in my kitchen and have never clipped it either.

Then again it must be a different beast than the EP2500 and EP1500 I had, they clipped easy when pushed hard.

I'm pushing 4 IXL18.4's with my EP2500 and have no problem clipping when cranking it up. I really need to get a bigger amp for them but for 95% the 2500 is all I need.

Maybe it was the signal clipping?
