Pretty cool. My InfiniTV is installed in my server running Windows Home Server 2011 and the tuners are shared via network bridge with two other HTPC's. Will the companion app work in that scenario? Would it connect directly to the server, or to one of the HTPC's?

Yep this will work fine. You would install the companion services on whichever HTPC you would like to control/schedule recordings on.

We support multiple HTPCs, so if you are sharing between multiple PCs you can install the services on all of them. Then when you launch the app you just control which PC you want to control.

If you have all of your recordings and such on the server in our config on the HTPC you just specify username/password of where your files are located.

It's definitely like the app is losing the communication link to the server until I prompt it back into action by doing the work around. Otherwise, I can just be sitting there pressing buttons with nothing happening...

Might be a good opportunity for a future fix/update if others are experiencing this.

Edit: I would like to know if this is a problem only for me, so I can troubleshoot as required. Anyone else having this issue?

I have never seen it where you have to press it that many times at all. On rare occassions I will press things twice, but I am usually 30 second skipping so it is alright.

We do have anti button mashing code in there that only send the remote commands so often... but it is like every 5th of a second or something small.

Interesting. I'll see if I can narrow it down over the next few weeks with some use and get a feel for when it is occurring and what might be causing it. Thanks for taking the time to reply, I'm very impressed that Ceton are so active on all the forums.

Official news today!

Re-name, re-launch, and Windows 8 app. Welcome to My Media Center!

I decided to give this a try (even though it'll be more useful for me whenever the version that lets me use MediaBrowser metadata) since I had a free $5 for WP8 apps from Bing Rewards.

My Media Center PC is running Windows 8. I noticed that if I don't already have Media Center running, a lot of the commands don't actually do anything. Is this how it's supposed to work? I would think that for example if I told it to tune a certain channel, it would be able to open Media Center / start ehshell and then tune that channel.

Right now that is how it is designed, but we are going to fix it up in the future with new services. We have a lot of new features for the services...

Btw, Motz, do you know how scrolling works in Windows 8 apps? If some apps, the scroll wheel will allow me to scroll from left to right. In others it does nothing. It's a weird inconsistency. Does this have to be enabled in each app? I can see it doesn't work in My Media Center.

Looks great James and crew! Fantastic job! I guess I'll need to buy a surface pro biggrin.gif

I use the scroll wheel throughout the app currently. I believe you need to click on the background of the list view or grid view first though. It is not 100% straight forward and is inconsistent between apps. I think it is a framework issue, but I will look into it.

Thanks guys. That's so strange. I guess maybe there's something wrong with the driver for my Logitech mouse. Very weird that scrolling works in some applications but not others.

Btw, finally found the source of my scrolling problems: WizMouse. Turned it off and scrolling works fine now.

An alternative called KatMouse doesn't cause the same issue with Windows 8 apps.

Interesting, yeah I have seen my scroll wheel act different depending on the app, who knows really. It ill be an issue for anything not touch based it seems like on Win 8 as Metro apps are better with touch IMHO. Glad you got it working though

For someone who's been missing his old BeyondTV web interface, this looks like a vast improvement over the very limited RemotePotato setup I've been using with WMC 7 (which I had to start using for CableCard access). Now I just have to figure out my best angle on the client app side: We're a Mac and Linux household primarily, and there are no Android, iOS, or Win 8 devices in the house.

It isn't going to work for you unless you have a smartphone that you did not mention in your post.

Ask Apple to make their so called Apple TV to actually work with TV signal. Otherwise it is just an overpriced Roku/WD Player with a shiny Apple logo on top.

You need a smart phone or a tablet to work with the app.

Perhaps someone from Ceton can shed some light if it will work with Chromebook, which runs on android.

Other than no web browser interface, the main limitation that the Ceton app has compared to RemotePotato is that there's no streaming available (yet), so you can't watch anything. Ceton has hinted that streaming is on their to-do list, but hasn't promised any delivery date for that functionality. That said, the Ceton app is light-years ahead of RemotePotato for managing recordings.

I would just go ahead and reboot the HTPC real quick, should fix up the remote control issues.

if you PM me your IP/Name you registered with I can pass along to TGB admins if you want.

Just being honest biggrin.gif. But you guys have done a great job with the My Media Center app - I've shown the app to a few friends on my iPhone and they're just blown away. If you guys ever add the ability to actually play recordings and/or live TV within the app, that will be icing on the cake.

I kind of have the same problem.......but with my movies I have ripped, I have lost the cover art when scrolling through, the backgrounds are still there and change every few seconds. Also, I don't see ALL my movies in the Gallery on the app for my Sammy S3.......

Trying to figure it out and troubleshoot........anyone have any suggestions?

I will say the app is pretty cool otherwise, the remote is faster than the Harmony I currently have setup! Like the other features with the guides, series recordings, etc......
