Think of the damage you could do to your sound room with that spare $18k.

Honey! I've decided to give up fishing.

You don't fish.

If you haven't already, please vote on the review you felt was, per the contest rules, most 'useful and thorough'! Apparently no need to register, but always great to hear why someone voted for one review over the other!

Apparently the rules have changed, and now a comment is needed to justify the winning poll vote. If you support PBC in his very thorough and excellent review effort please drop a comment in the audioholics thread asap.

I find this whole thing to be a shame. It has become a popularity contest as opposed to a vote for the best review.

sure seems like it. I read/watched all the reviews and pbc's is the standout IMO.

edit: it sounds like they are going to throw out the poll so far, so you have to register now and indicate your vote with a comment

I logged in and made a comment but I'm still not allowed to vote confused.gif

"You may not vote on this poll"

Your vote will not tabulated in the actual poll but it "should" be counted in the manual count & appear in the final tabulation...in the end!

The contest has been extended until the 24th...I believe!

Thanks, Bill--I'll see you on the Ascend boards wink.gif.

Yep...will do...I just realized you only have 2 posts and require 5 posts at Audioholics to cast an official vote....biggrin.gif

I kinda like my Avatar...cool.gif

Thanks for the comments guys. Sounds like one of the reasons some prefer the reviews of the other two is that my review had a bit too much "technical" stuff to it. I can understand that. Admittedly the Sledge amplifier offers a ton of tweaks so I wanted to present as much as possible graphically about what it could do.

As BillyP mentioned, I guess you needed 5 posts to actually vote in the contest. So on a positive side, now one can register and go to the thread directly to vote by entering in a comment. Meaning it opens it up to more people. I'm sure many who are not part of Audioholics didn't want to go through the hassle of registering and then having to post 5 times before voting. Still have to register, but don't have to post 5 times if you don't want to!

It looks like the vote is a dead heat. Wasn't the contest done yesterday? How would they determine the winner in case oif a tie?

The poll is no longer valid either so the numbers are meaningless.

In order for your vote to count, you actually have to post in the thread who you want to vote for!

PBC --- you'd better win this one --- or we'll all know it was just a popularity contest. I just reread adam's review and I can't see how anyone would consider these two to be in the same league. Your review is not only 10x's as thorough in objective measurements, it's more far more complete in subjective evaluation. I don't know Adam, but if this were a blind peer review --- it'd be 50 to 1 votes towards PBC's review.

A+

But (and it is a big one), Audioholics is a provincial little site and strange things happen there.

So I see --- everytime I log in there that that are nearly 300 viewers on the subwoofer section. It's almost always around that number. At first I was like wow -- this place must be busier than AVSforum!!! Then I noticed after the last week of watching their forums somewhat irregularly that it always appears to be several hundred viewers, and yet there is like one or two new posts a day. Something is off with that math (there are 247 viewing right now apparently) ... rolleyes.gif

Actually the forum averages about 23,000 pages views per day and not as many posts per day as here, but considerably more than "two".

I should have said new threads instead of new posts... Check it out.. There are very few new posts each day in the subwoofer section for that many viewers. Maybe the timeout setting on the session is long or something.

Yeah, I remember Gene saying that the "online" user list defaults to the past 72 hours or something to that effect. The forum actually accounts for just a small fraction of the actually hits the site generates, most coming from the articles via search hits.

I just wish posters would list out why they are voting for Adam or me or Marshall. Some are (and thank you) but many are just putting mine or Adam's name, or just saying "was the best for me" without any context as to why they thought it was the most "thorough and useful". It would help for future reviews.

I'm surprised no one has voted for Marshall. I really enjoyed his review, and his close-mic (I think it was the first time he's close-mic'd a thread) was spot on. His in-room comparison of the natural frequency response vs the SB13 with no EQ was interesting as well, as was the addition of the PB12NSD on top of it. Just wish he had inserted a couple more subjective comments around movie references in the review. I haven't seen Hunger Games (outside of in an airplane) so not sure how much deep bass that movie has. I figured if folks preferred a review with fewer graphs, there would have been a bit more of a split between Adam's and Marshall's.

Also, it seems no one liked my strip tease Barry White themed picture compilation. My wife loved it! biggrin.gif
