Try the web interface. Just enter the IP address in your browser and add /setup at the end for more detailed control (not sure if it includes account info).
post #152 of 228
The IP address worked for me, but the /setup didn't do anything.
post #153 of 228
Maybe the advanced setup only works on the higher models. Someone posted that it was working on the 3020 (link). What was the complete address you entered? Was it as follows (except for the actual IP address):

192.168.1.100/setup/
post #154 of 228
I'll try that tonite...didn't add the final / and this is on the 673 not the 720. My bad!
post #155 of 228
Ipaddress/setup/ works and has a lot of settings. But I did not find a spot to configure rhapsody or siriusxm.
post #156 of 228
I noticed that when I select the 2ch stereo program does not use the subwoofer is this correct or did I mess up a setting somewhere?
post #157 of 228
It should use the sub if your main speakers are set as Small, but not if they are set as Large (since that means you want them to handle all the bass). In almost all cases it's better to set all speakers as Small when you have a sub, and set an appropriate crossover frequency.

how do you update firmware using a Mac? I don't see my 720 in any network window. Plus I just bought 720 and am unable to get video to work, I do have audio. Using it with a Samsung 7000.
post #159 of 228
I am planning to buy A720 and seems you got experience in configuration or anybody else
would REALLY appreciate help in confirming the following configuration:

I have two devices with component video outputs and coax/optic audio outputs.
Third device has HDMI video output and optic audio output.
My TV doesn't have ARC function.

My connection plan:

TV (HDMI in, opt out)
connect YAMAHA RX-A720 HDMI OUT to HDMI TV IN
Connect TV AUDIO OPTICAL OUT to RX-A720 AV4 optical IN

Device 3 (HDMI/optical out)
connect Device 3 HDMI OUT to RX-A720 HDMI1
connect Device 3 optical OUT to RX-A720 AV1 optical IN

Device 1 (COMP/coax)
connect Device 1 COMP OUT to RX-A720 AV2 COMP IN
connect Device 1 coax OUT to RX-A720 AV2 coax IN

Device 2 (COMP/coax) Here is my question if this connection is possible to configure in software ?
connect Device 2 COMP OUT to RX-A720 AV1 COMP IN (I am not sure if I used AV1 optical for HDMI device3
connect Device 2 coax OUT to RX-A720 AV3 coax IN can I use AV1 COMP with another audio input (AV3) ?)

My software configuation plan:

for Device 3
Input->HDMI1->Audio IN->AV1
Input->HDMI1->Video Out->HDMI1

for Device 1
Input->AV2->Audio IN->AV2
Input->AV2->Video Out->AV2

for Device 2
Input->AV1->Audio IN->AV3
Input->AV1->Video Out->AV1

Will it work ?

Thanks in advance

Just a couple of comments:

I don't see where you connect component video out from the 720 to the TV. You will need to do this because the 720 does not convert component inputs to HDMI output (except for 480i, which may not be enough for your sources). See the video conversion table on page 114 of the 720 manual. You need the A1020 to convert 480p/720p/1080i component input to HDMI.

With an HDMI source (your device 3) you normally don't need to connect a optical cable, since HDMI carries the audio as well.

after initial setup, my first impressions were "wow!" i sent back a sony str da1800es that just didn't impress me at all. the setup menu sucked and had very little to offer in the settings. this yamaha has settings beyond settings in the advanced setup. within the hour i got it and connected everything,ran through ypao and played with the manual settings, i'm very glad i sent the sony back. this thing looks way sexier as well.

Is it possible to turn off the auto switching to AV4 when the tv is turned on? The problem is my tv takes about 7 seconds to boot and often I'm watching my appletv which is on HDMI 2. While the tv is booting I turn the receiver to HDMI 2, then the tv turns on and the receiver switches back to AV4. I then have to repress HDMI 2 to watch the appletv. Any ideas on how to fix this?
post #165 of 228
If you turn off HDMI control then it won't switch to AV4.

issue.... i've had my 720 for a week or so. absolutely no issues. but now, i cannot get to the advanced browser settings. i could previously. i'm now greeted with a blank white screen in firefox and ie. i'm running 1.64 firmware. i reset my router to factory defaults. nothing. tried connecting from my phone. nothing. i can get to the basic settings screen. but not the advanced ip/settings menu. i reflashed the firmware through usb and lan. no luck. made the 720's ip static. no luck. reset the 720 back to factory defaults. nothing. any ideas? thanks.

Try resetting your Internet browser cache?
post #168 of 228
Just a thought, when you go to the advanced settings and you see a white screen, try a "ctrl+F5" refresh, which will force a redownload of the page, and not try to pull the page from cache. Also, try a different browser.
post #169 of 228
neither of the last 2 options worked. thanks anyways. i'm stumped. i can get to the basic settings from my pc and from my cell over my wireless network. but nothing will let me access the advanced settings.
post #170 of 228
What is the path to the advanced settings again....I can't remember.
post #171 of 228
youripaddress/settings
post #172 of 228
I think it's /setup (not /settings).

i used "settings" before and it worked. but i tried setup anyways. no luck. i'm stumped. everything else about this receiver i love. but i'm pissed that i lost some functionality. about the only thing i haven't tried is downgrading the firmware. and i haven't checked to see if older firmwares are even available.

i stand corrected. you were right. but i tried "setup" a few times with no results. now it works. thanks
it only works for me if i use this format ipaddress/setup/ . without the last forward slash, it won't load the settings page.

I am having a little trouble I have tried two different subwoofers with the A720 both have almost no output even when the sub is turned up to max. I have configured the sub level in the receiver to +10. Any thoughts on what I could change to get the output corrected? I have a feeling YAPO messed something up that I can't get to in the configuration menu.
PS, both subwofers have been hooked up to other receivers in the house and have plenty of output.
post #176 of 228
My guess would be that your front LR speakers are set to large. Set them to small and try it.
post #177 of 228
I did look at that and the fronts are set to small. I do have the eq set to front.
post #178 of 228
Try setting the EQ to Flat? or Natural.

IIRC setting EQ to Front redirects all bass to the front.
post #179 of 228
YPAO Front does not change what goes to the subwoofer, it just tries to EQ the other speakers to match the fronts. But people rarely use that mode since it doesn't EQ the fronts (Flat or Natural is more commonly used, or none at all).

When you run the built-in manual test tones does the sub sound much lower than the other speakers? (better still, if you have an SPL meter does it measure lower than the other speakers).
post #180 of 228
The test tone is very faint when on the subwoofer. I don't have an SPL to see what the actual difference is.
