At this time we can only talk about features which have been revealed. There is much yet unveiled, so wait a bit for OPPO or review outlet to disclose more informartion

It would be great to be able to replace the 95 cover with a properly ventilated version (which would probably be enough to prevent the fan from coming on).

To answer my own question, it isn't.

Also this guy claims the prices will be the same as the 93 / 95 and that the 103 will be out in December.

The BDP-105 is larger than the BD-95 so you will need a new rack. The BDP-95 was designed to fit in a 2U shelf, while the BDP-105 is designed for a 3U shelf.

I don't want to get people TOO excited. There will be limitations for the different types of inputs that folks WILL need to get familiar with. But it's not as restrictive as you thought.

Stay tuned, folks. It won't be that much longer before the specs are out and we can discuss all this in detail.

Do not put too much faith in false prophets. OPPO has not released pricing info yet.

my timing has been impeccable. i just received my new tube amp in the mail and had planned on getting either the 93 or 95 when my speakers showed up. last night, i walk into magnolia to pick up something to connect my ipod/iphone to the amp (so that i can try the amp with my headphones) and i end up walking out of there with the 95. i have 30 days to return it, but even if i do, i'll need something bridge me from next month to when the 103/105 come out. hmm...wondering what i should do at this point. =/
post #68 of 2827
Very cool. I'm thinking I might have to replace my "aging" 93 with a 103.
According to the pictures and the description we have so far it wil be half again as tall, that is 3 units high rather than 2.
^ The 105 will be 2.5 Rack Units tall -- so it takes up a 3U space in a rack.

Yeah, I understand, I just wondered if Oppo had ever stated a position on IP control - it's the only thing I'd really like that's not on my 93 (or put another way I wouldn't buy another unit without it).

How do you figure that? The chassis is the same depth as the 93 -- 12 inches -- not counting space in the back for plug and cable lead extension, nor space in the front for the tray to open.

Oh, you 2 said 3U, I thought 3U dimesnions were 17.1" x 5.1" x 25.5" WxHxD

If its just a couple inches taller then I wouldnt need a new "Rack" cause the shelves are adjustable. Which would be great and a big relief. Assuming that I will want to purchase the 105.
^ Yes, you just need to allow for more height.

With the including of digital in I wonder the possibility of the 105 turning into a digital preamp, much like what other DAC/Preamp such as Wyred4Sound, Anedio and PS Audio and others are offering, which would be quite interesting.

IP Control is something that the OPPO has been working on, and hope to have this added to the current and future generation of players. However, there has been no guarantee that this will occur in the future.

+1, If they've added 2 more ESS Sabre chips (or one , or is there better) beefed up the power supply ( Or bettered the Rotel) better caps? then we can seriously talk but the new feature set is looking pretty thin, as I could spend far less for 1080p 5.1 netflix and using it as a dac is only marginally appealing right now and
as for 4k ??? for now and foreseeable future but killer audio and I'll be at the party while there still setting it up:D

When you say faster, do you mean the menus/interface is faster or its general performance (eg disc loading speed) is faster?

Thanks

What's up with the power supply no more Rotel?

Ask again later. Such information is not yet declassified.

I don't know anything so I am free to offer a suggestion. The speed of operation attributed to PS3 players is thought to be do to it's greater processing power in that it's a pretty good computer. Increasing computing power in the 103/105 players could possibly make them faster loading Blu-rays, and getting ready to operate. I will be surprised if that turns out not to be the case. smile.gif

I have to wonder about current generation of players. As I recall Oppo announced that no new features would make the 83 when the 93/95 came out. I expect the same thing here when the 103/105 come out. And that's not a complaint, but just a behavoir that I'd expect again.

This email I received a few weeks ago from Oppo. I read this as "Hold your breath, it will come soon".

======================
We will be adding IP Control to the player through a future firmware release. Unfortunately we do not know when we will have this firmware made available to the public.

Subject: ipad control
Hi,

It seems that the the Oppo 95 has no ipad control, yet. Others like denon and marantz come up with universal players with ipad control. They have no 7.1 analog outputs, pity. Off course lower Q than Oppo, but more comfort. I expect that Cambridge Audio will be working on ipad control as well. I do want an Oppo product however, because of the high Q dac, video processing etc. So: when can we expect the comfort of ipad control, especially useful for the streaming of video and flac from NAS?

Assuming what I read is true that Oppo will release the 103 in December 2012, would it be fair to say the 105 will follow in the spring of '13?

Great!!!

I e-mailed OPPO to ask if they were going to have an early adopter program like they have in the past. Here was thier response

We have no plans for any Early Adopter program or even pre-orders at this time. We hope to have the unit out by the end of October, and as soon as it's available, it'll be for sale on our website.

Thanks,

Christopher Vick
Oppo Digital, Inc.

End of October would be nice.
