Artefacts caused by game or hardware?

I've been wondering if things like shimmering in games are caused by the game, the hardware and/or the screen
My hardware is very capable - Intel Core i7, GTX580, 8 GB RAM - and I run games at High or higher @ 1920x1080
My screen is a 27 inch Benq
But still I see things like shimmering
Not a lot, but it's there if I look hard (now if I could just stop doing that)
Is that a limitation in the game or is it caused by hardware?

norm that is sign of something is over heating unless the game is coded badly . If the vid card is OC'd then that could cause the probm. Also it could be the vid driver ver you ae using. You can try diff drivers and see. Just a guess.

Depends on what you mean by "shimmering". That would be a common way to refer to aliasing, in which case you would want to look in to anti-aliasing methods to apply.
