I have a SC-61 since 3 days !

- I connected Reciver's HDMI OUTPOUT to my TV's HDMI Input source (Plasma Panasonic)
- I use 3 sources on HDMI1, HDMI2 and HDMI3
When a switch with my remote from HDMI1 to HDMI2 or HDMI2 to HDMI3 or HDMI3 to HDMI1 or any other order, I noticed a delay between 7 an 12 second to view a new source on my screen !

Does you have this delay when you switch from a HDMI souce to another HDMI source ?

What is a problem, does my receiver is failed ?

Thanks

Just unboxed my receiver and going to attempt to set it up in a bit but was wondering if anyone can take a photo of the back of their sc-61 and post a picture of it set up in 5.1 ? Just looking at it real quick and by the way not watching the disc yet even the speaker and subwoofer inputs or outputs look difficult ! Sorry new to this !!!!

Looking at the cd I installed and what is the difference in front r & l and front height/wide/b when hooking up the speaker wire ? Also surround back R L (single) or surround R L ??? I have a 5.1 setup that I'm trying to put in to the information that its asking if that helps. Two fronts, two rears ,a center, and a subwoofer.
Thanks !

Thanks for all your help. Software on disc useless. First was in language other than english. Then fixed that and software on pc still did not see the sc-61 on the network. I have the speaker s finally configuresd after I was instructed to plug sub into the sub 1. Not the one for zone 2 which is really not clearly labelled. But have more questions. I have read the manual. Frankly answers you guys provide on this forum are better and quicker. So here we go.

1. Why is there no sound until I turn up volume to like -24. It weird have to have Knut up past half way.
2. If I have the small Bose cube speakers hanging from ceiling. Ten years old. 5.1. Do I want to set them to large or small.
3. I have the mcaaac set when did the full auto. Used the front buttons and remote to do. Could not set up through computer. Is that the default setting for the speakers. Little confused on how to choose maccacc 1 or 2 or 3 ect
4. I see the back has per amp outs. If I have a Yamaha rx-v995'. The unit the elite replaced. I want to use that to power another zone how do you recommend. I will be running the apple tv mostly to zone 2.

Thanks. You guys are great.

Ok we'll got it partial hooked up til I got to the step where I need to plug in a Ethernet wire to the wireless router but can't do that til tomorrow after work when I go get one long enough ! Anyways so I can't set-up the sound correct yet. My question is this..... How do I get the menu to show up on my t.v. Meaning whatever the receiver says I thought was suppose to show up on he screen of the tv? Thanks again for all your help! My t.v is a pioneer elite pro-ro6u
post #128 of 436
Anyone please..... Just trying to figure out why when I switch something over on the receiver it DOESNT show up on the tv screen or the volume doesn't show on the screen either ? Thought it was suppose to
post #129 of 436
The only way i know of to be able to see which input, volume level, surround mode, etc. Other than looking at the AVR's display Is with the I Pad app.

Having an issue with my speakers and sub. If i set my 2 fronts to large I get no output from my sub, only when the speakers are set to small.

I'm running axiom M80 speaker fronts, I imagine these would be classified as a large speaker. Does anyone know how to get the subwoofer going?

Thanks
Thanks. It was my understanding that it would show on the tv too but maybe not. All of my stuff is in a solid cabinet so I thought they told me when I bought it that I would still be able to see it on the tv screen ??? Do you have the iPad app ? You need to have the Ethernet cable hooked up to the router for that to work correct ?
Thanks !

MINORC - It depends on the signal the AVR is receiving. If you look at the AVR display. It will show you how many channels (speaker icons) the AVR is receiving. Also I would test this with a known source such as a current blu ray. If your sub works while playing a movie. Then you have to determine if the other source is truly sending a signal to your sub. On my setup my speakers were all set to large during calibration. When I play a blu ray movie my sub is active. When I watch some movie channels thru my cable set top box, my sub is active. Some movie channels my sub goes to sleep mode. Also on all of the music channels I listen too. My sub is not active. For me I've come to enjoy the music channels with out the sub. My Cerwin Vega AT-12's and other speaker are more than capable at handling bass management. I find this AVR sound to be very clean to my ears at least.

SF FAN - Yes I use the IPad app. My AVR is connected to the wireless hub by a ethernet cable. The app has allot of control features and to me is a huge upgrade from the remote brick they provide. With the app It displays most of the info thats on the AVR display. If you go to the app store you can get an idea as to what you can do with it. If you have an ipad you can play with all the features in demo mode. In my opinion it's a much better way to control the AVR.

MINORC - All that is assuming the sub is hooked up correctly. Download the manual there is a nice picture of the back connections. Generally sub 1 or 2 RCA connector.

The Sub is hooked up correctly and works fine, the issue is I ran Mcacc and it made my Axiom's LARGE in the settings.

Here is what I'm running;

Axiom (2) M80's (fronts) Bi-amped
Axiom (1) M22 (center)

Velodyne DPS-12 subwoofer

I'm setup for the Bi-amp setting.
When I go to Mcacc menu and change the speaker config, I set the fronts to SMALL and then the bass comes on.
Only when set to LARGE it doesn't work at all (Music & TV)

When watching a blu-ray the sub works normally as it should even if fronts are set to LARGE.

M80 Specs

Triple Vortex / Reflex
Max Amp Power:
400 Watts
Min Amp Power: 10 Watts
Freq Resp +/-3dB (Hz):
34 Hz – 20 kHz
Frequency Graph
Freq Resp +3dB- 9dB (Hz):
25 Hz – 20 kHz
Impedance (Ohms):
4 Ohms
Impedance Graph
SPL in Room1w/1m(db):
95 dB
SPL Anechoic 1w/1m(db):
91 dB
X-Over 160 Hz & 2.3 kHz
Tweeter: Dual 1"
Midrange: Dual 5.25"
Woofer: Dual 6.5"

I'm assuming even knowing the specs of this speaker, I should still set it to SMALL so the Sub produces all the bass and takes the stress off the amp.

and that is exactly the way it's supposed to work.

Blu-ray, DVD, any 5.1 source has a dedicated .1 LFE (bass) track. so with fronts set to Large, the .1 track PLUS all redirected bass < Xover from your center & surrounds gets sent to both the fronts & the sub.

on 2 channel music or TV, if you have the fronts set to Large, unless you use ProLogic IIx or similar to create a surround field, then the 2 ch music, including all the bass, goes to the fronts & none to the sub.

set your speakers to Small & if you have typical surrounds & center, your Xover to 80Hz, and your sub will be used for all bass < 80 Hz all the time.

room correction systems look at whether the speaker can reproduce 40-50 Hz tone and set it to Large if they can. that doesn't mean that is the optimal setup for every specific speaker & home theater use. Most will advise you to set them to Small even if the room correction system sets to Large. You can do it either way, but if you want your sub to work on 2 ch music & don't want to use change 2 ch to surround, then you'll need to set them to Small. and the Xover is not a hard brick wall filter, it has a slope, so your fronts will still be reproducing some of the bass; it'll just be gradually sloped off.

Alright you've cleared that up pretty well, thank you very much.

I found the "Plus" option in the Amp's settings, I have my fronts set to Large and the sub is working as It should, but is this really optimal? Is it putting more stress on the amp?

SW–
LFEsignalsandbassfrequenciesofchannelssettoSMALLareoutputfromthesubwooferwhenYES
is selected. Choose the PLUS setting if you want the subwoofer to output bass sound continuously or you want deeper bass (the bass frequencies that would normally come out the front and center speakers are also routed to the subwoofer). If you did not connect a subwoofer choose NO (the bass frequencies are output from other speakers).
— If you have a subwoofer and like lots of bass, it may seem logical to select LARGE for your front speakers
and PLUS for the subwoofer. This may not, however, yield the best bass results. Depending on the speaker placement of your room you may actually experience a decrease in the amount of bass due low frequency cancellations. In this case, try changing the position or direction of speakers. If you can’t get good results, listen to the bass response with it set to PLUS and YES or the front speakers set to LARGE and SMALL alternatively and let your ears judge which sounds best. If you’re having problems, the easiest option is to route all the bass sounds to the subwoofer by selecting SMALL for the front speakers.

Just got my sc61 yesterday. Haven't done much with it yet except calibration. I've read some of the manual as well as this entire thread. (Luckily it's not along one). From what I've read, an Ethernet connection is needed for internet access. Since I can't directly connect to modem I saw the manual said to use the Pioneer Wireless LAN adapter. I saw this one on Amazon
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B003KPBRRW/ref=cm_sw_r_an_am_ap_am_us?ie=UTF8

It's not Pioneer, but it should do the trick....right? I mostly want connection because I installed the icontrolav2012 app, (I believe that's what it's called) on my galaxy s3 and it looks awesome! Would love to be able to utilize this app. I might eventually decide to stream Pandora in the future, but I can do that with so many other things in my house, the app is the main interest. Also, if this adapter works could I eventually connect an Ethernet switch to it to connect other components such as tv, BR, ps3 etc? Would that create a better connection compared to just using the built in Wi-Fi capabilities of the mentioned components? Hoping I love this avr. It's replacing a 2 week old onkyo 809 that I'm sending back to Amazon cuz it was messed up and I honestly didn't enjoy that much

I just got the sc61 for a really good price but i want to run a 9.2 system with FH speakers. Can i use the FH preouts with a power amp to get 9 channels of Simultaneous output without having to sacrifice the SB channels thank you

Update to post 118: After trying everything suggested I contacted Pioneer and they advised me to return the unit for a new one. I just finished setting up the new SC-61 and everything works perfectly!

From post 33 I just dont want to switch back and forth manually everytime I switch the source.
That's the only method I've found. A little clumsy right? But it works.

Did you figure this out?
You have to choose the input for Zone 2 with Zone 2 selected.

You need to sign in to Pandora with the remote and once you have access to your account you can use the app to control pandora! You cant use the app to sign in.

Ok, received my new SC-61 and have worked through most of my issues, some with the help from this forum. Trying to do the firmware update I'm having problems. I tried it with a thumb drive I had on hand, no dice - it didn't even try. Took the advice of this forum, went and bought the smallest drive I could find at Best Buy. The receiver saw the files, told me it would take 17 minutes, I told it to go. It access the drive (the led's on the drive even flashing), the receiver said "Downloading". But it never got past 0% downloading, then came up with "Update error 6". Of course, I can't find anything to tell me what this is. Hopefully someone has some advice.

I think I read somewhere in this thread that you have to first unzip the update, than load to thumb drive.
