Can I play 3d bluray iso through hdmi1.3? Or must I get the optoma 3d-xl?

Hi i hope someone can clear this up for me. I'm trying to play 3D Bluray ISO using total media theater 5 or powerdvd 10. I have the gt430 which can passthrough 3d stream. The problem is, my projector benQ w710st is a 720p 3d ready dlp projector and it cannot support hdmi 1,4 directly, it needs something like a optoma 3d-xl converter to convert it to hdmi 1.3 signal. Simple put:

1) Do I really have to get the 3d-xl which will cost me for $230 if I want to play 3d bluray iso from my htpc using total media theater or powerdvd 10?
2) Can hdmi 1.3 support 3d htpc playback? If yes then i would be super glad because my projector cannot accept hdmi 1.4 frown.gif

Are you using the nvidia 3d vision for your 3D or dlp link? I've got the optoma hd66 which is the same specs 720p hdmi 1.3 3d projector and it works fine using powerdvd 11 and tmt5 for playing 3d bluray iso. The 3dxl is only needed when trying to play 3d bluray discs from a standalone bluray player or ps3

I have only one set of nvidia vision kot , and a few pairs of generic dlp link glasses which i plan to use it for 3d movies. So, without a nvidia kit we can still just play 3d bluray iso from powerdvd fine right?

Yep but I've heard people having issues with the nvidia one being washed out looking if you use both at the same time. I only have the nvidia so I've never actually seen it myself.

hi thanks for your feedback. But isn't it 3d signal can only be carried through hdmi 1.4? If I just play 3d Bluray ISO from powerdvd or TMT, can these players play the 3D signal in hdmi 1.3? In your case I think it is because of the Nvidia Vision kit that you have then you are able to output the 3d signal in hdmi 1.3 am i right?

I have not tried it personally but I know of people using dlp link just fine on the same projector which is 1.3 I'm pretty sure the 3dxl is only for devices like ps3 etc to be 3d for you. Check out the sub forum for projectors and maybe ask your question in there to be 100%

They play 120Hz frame-sequential, which is not hdmi1.4.
