optical splitter = quality loss ?

I bought a splitter like this so i can also get sound in another room:

But i'm wondering if it will lower the quality of my sound?

All the splitter is doing is sending all the 1's and 0's to a second location....

Either they get through, or they don't

I wouldn't think it would result in a sound quality loss....

You'll be fine...
