Mitsubishi will bring out a lighter and cheaper version of the HC9000, only in white and for a price of 2500 euros (around 3000 dollars). I don't know if this projector will be introduce in the States. This version will come out in a limiter number.

Why in Limited number?
They are making it because they have parts left over from their HC9000 runs and for some reason, not specified, they are not allowed to manufacture any more HC9000. They are exiting the manufacture of HT projectors at the higher price levels and just remaining in the sub $5K class.

someone told me, mitsubishi developer are very disappointed about the weak assembling work quality in china., this should be the real reason why this high-end series is stopped. Roumors says, it is the same company who make jvc x series. But Mitsu is developing a new Professional Line on Hybrid Base, to see first at CES and ISE early next year. And this could be the base for a new Line-up in Homecinema too, maybe also at higher price points.

WTF???? All my Mitsubishi PJs were made in JP, is the HC9000 made in the Middle Kingdom already?
YES, like JVC X Series.

I got my HC5 this week. By Friday, got am email, that initial stock is sold out.

There is a promo going on where you get the emitter and glasses for free. If you got in early enough you also got the ceiling mount.

Stunning looking projector. I have very high hopes for the PQ on my Black Diamond screen.

waiting for your initial impression.

I didn't know it is also available in black. 700 euros cheaper then the HW50. In addition to that can we say it is more inline with the higher end VW series from Sony?
Yep...available in black. It is quite large. 2x the size of the other DLP Mits proj we have in the store. And seriously heavy. I love the look and feel of this projector. I think they will be gone by first Q of 2013.

It has the look at feel of the 95ES.

Can you or someone measure the input lag of this projector? A few days ago I didn't know about the HC5, but if input lag is good then it's surely a serious contender. Having a full CMS is also a plus for me. If it will be gone in 2013 Q2, I hope Mitsubishi will continue to support of bulbs, service, etc... Do they plan to exit the LCOS projection market perhaps?
seems like a good projector then... its pretty cheap... i wonder what sort of lens they use, I guess its better than the hw50 lens?
It seems this is a much nicer projector than HW50. It's based on the HC9000 chassis with better lens and panels and more in line with higher end Sony VW90/95.
I'm very interested in this, but I wonder if it'll be bright enough? Looks like the Sony HW50 has a serious lumen advantage?

Adam, they are on for $2499. Also, you get the glasses and emitter for free. Nice deal.

Hello there how is the ghosting in 3d on this projector?

Can you tell us more?

Best regards

Hi what about black level performance on this one? It looks really nice, smooth and heavy.
It will be a few weeks at least before I get to use the projector in any serious manner. My room is currently at this stage:

BTW, considering the MSRP of $2499, should this not go in the under $3k forum. I know this unit is pretty much an HC9000, but that being said, the price is obviously sharp to move.
This projector is so tempting. Can it really do 30000:1 contrast like HC9000? Does it have bright corners like HC9000? Does CMS not work like in early HC9000 revisions?
I'm a small HT/Audio Dealer and just ordered one for "MY" personal system.

That suggested retail in the previous post, is interesting since my distributor shows a list of $4999. (projector only)

Looking forward to firing it up.
A truer MSRP might be at $2495 but few buy at MSRP anyway.

It is readily available mail order for around $2000 so I hope as a dealer you got it at demo pricing considerably below that.
How's the progress, Ryan? Can't wait to hear your impressions on HC5.
I sent an HC9000d in for repair (about 1 year old) and they are telling me the part is on backorder and don't have an ETA... SOooo, they are offering to send me a brand new HC5 as a replacement. I can't find any specs and they actually called this thing an "upgrade" to the HC9000d... Not that numbers mean everything, but the 9000 had a list price of $10k and the 5 has a list price of around $3k? Seems a little fishy to me...

Thoughts?
