i3-3225 and MadVR

I for one would like to hear some feed back on this as well. Not having to use a discrete vid card to run madvr would be a HUGE +

If I remember right, the professional reviews said it was good for madvr. In fact it was the main advantage of the HD4000 graphics.

FWIW, to simulate what the 3225 will perform like you can probably undervolt/underclock any of the i5's as its the gpu/mem being stressed here for an htpc setup.

I have a 3570k build right now(also HD4000 GPU), samsung 30nm ddr3 1600@ 2133 11-11-11-28-1T @ 1.5v in my current htpc and following the stickied thread on these forums for MPC-HC/madvr/reclock advanced guide, i can say the machine performs flawlessly. mpchc shows 23.9722 ( -.004 off) frame rate which is expected for this intel/win7 build. i drop a frame every 4-5 minutes which imho is imperceptible. then again, im no purist or use purist gear in my home.

the easy tests:
-my usual 720p 1080p mkvs, 24p was on the spot(~23.922) as expected for an ivy bridge gpu. audio decoding dts, dd 5.1 was OK.

the real tests:
- Avengers 3D BluRay ISO mounted on VCD and played back through TMT5(just for 3D reasons). bitstreamed DTS-HD, flawless playback for video/audio, ~12% cpu usage
- Avengers MakeMKV'ed main title of the above 3D ISO, untouched video/audio. resulting mkv was ~26GB. MPCHC properties show ~22mbit video bitrate, DTS-HD bitstreamed...flawless

Im coming from an AppleTV2 JB'ed with XBMC used to playback the above mentioned files. I dont own a standalone bluray player so i guess i never experienced '24p'. To me this has been a huge upgrade in PQ and IQ. movies in my existing collection that im very familiar with appear to pop. improved color, resolution(aTV2 was 720p limited ofcourse), smoother playback(i assume thanks to the 24p compared to aTV2's 720p/60hz) of action films and fast motion, im an htpc believer.


EDIT: my 3225 should get delivered tomorrow. will be dropped into a dq77kb board with samsung 30nm 1600 9-9-9-24-1T@ 1.5v mem. i can run any benchs once its up a running if need be. i came away very impressed with the HD 4000 and after much reading i feel its the best non-discrete GPU setup available. i have a preference for small, low power, low noise htpc's and this thin mini-itx build will finally let me have a real htpc in my living room without a huge/hot/loud/heavy box. ive tried bringing an HTPC into the living room for years now but nothing could compare with the aTV/XBMC combo in terms of power consumption/noise level/heat.

This clip is a bit tougher to play, I couldn't play it on previous HTPC which was amd e-350 based using evr-cp; madvr is a no-go for 1080p on e-350.
It can be found on this site under sample clips (#5).
