Hi Turbo ,
i took a great look at the new cirrus white and they are so beautiful, but i was astonished too see you are using one of the most expensive 6-7in woofer from acutton. I am just curious, as with that amout of money on a driver, you could have also built a 3 way using acutton drivers as well but maybe with a litle less efficiency. Dont get me wrong, i dont mean to say anything against your desing. After knowing the retail price of those drivers, what you offer are still quiet bargain. What i mean is, acutton is a reputable company so i guess their drivers are up there. Is that driver really going to throw us with an open eyes and an O mouth? Seems like you like to built 2 way. Any plans on a 3 way?

What's special about those very expensive Accutons is they have as much motor force as a 12" subwoofer, but only moving 15 grams of mass. So you get incredible acceleration and very high sensitivity, that results in loads of dynamics and resolution. It doesn't have much if any bass however, and was designed to be the best possible monitor for those with subs. We do have a 3-way version just a week or two away from completion called Joule White.

Whether it will give you that O face or not, I can't say. IMO though it is a very eye popping speaker, adjectives I'd use are "exciting" and "aggressive". It's meant to be a speaker that's a contrast with the Cirrus Black and certainly is that.

The Cirrus whites look like something Evolution Acoustics would come out with, if you didn't beat them to it lol. The speaker is like a cross between Evolutions Acoustics and Kaiser Kawero....Hats off to you Turbo! I can't wait to see and hear the new designs.

Nice avatar smile.gif Are you planning to attend RMAF?

If anybody else buit it, they'd cost $20k/pair. The White does look a lot like an Evolution speaker because of the finish, just happened to be what the customer wanted. The pair we'll have at RMAF is similar looking too with red dyed bare ply sides but different veneer, some Camphor Burl on front and tops.

Turbo,

I asked you this on another forum but I think it might be best to ask it here. Regarding the new standard upgrades you told me about smile.gif, what do you feel are the sonic differences between the new upgrades and the previous stock versions?

I got your response on the other forum. Thanks!! Do the Joules come with simliar upgrades as standard?
The upgrades you mention are VH Audio OIMP capacitors, Jensen 12ga wax/paper inductors, and a new custom made just for us RAAL that allows tweeter network to be just one component.

All these things act to give an even more clear, transparent sound. More low level detail, and the bass has a more natural tone.

The Joules have all these upgrades and then some included stadard. I'm updating the website right now with details.

I just saw the updates on your website. A very impressive list of parts used. I must say you guys sure don't skimp! biggrin.gif I'm looking forward to seeing the pics of the Joule White. Any idea on the timeframe for the release of the Nimbus?

No, we don't skimp ... on construction or components used. Other builders can say all they want that things like caps don't matter, but I've heard obvious differences way to many times to agree. Many other builders also say that braced MDF cabinets are 'good enough' too, I definately don't agree there. I'm just trying to give an option for those who agree, but don't want to lay out $30K to get that quality construction and components.

Joule White will be up within a couple days, just imagine the Joule Black with the 7" Accuton midrange.

Nimbus is planned to make it's debut at the Axpona Chicago show in March.
