Marantz SR5006 - can I bi-amp Front B with the Surr.back/amp assign inputs?

I wanted to use Front A, Center, Surround L/R for my sound bar and bi-amp Front B for my music speakers.

Can bi-amping be assigned and done on the Front B inputs?

I have yet to purchase the receiver but this is a main area of concern.

I need a way to separate my second set of speakers assigned for music for bi-amping.

If this is not possible can Front B be assigned for the 5.1 channel and Front A/Amp Assign be used for Stereo instead?

What kind of sound bar do you have?? Make and model please.

I think you can do the bi-amp like you want. What kind of music speakers?
The effectiveness of bi-amping is very debatable.

Yes, it is possible although unlike some Denon models that can assign the the Front B specifically to Stereo only, AFAIK, you must manually make that change. Note the Front B share the same amp as the Front A, so if running A+B, the impedance will change to 4-ohm if using 8-ohm speakers. Also note when using the "bi-amp" mode, both sets of speaker posts pass the same full range signal which is why there is unlikely to be any real benefit in either audio fidelity or power.

Polk Original SurroundBar and B&W Cm5's

The point is to have the Polks on Front A, Ctr, Surr L/R and the B&W on the Front B, bi-amped.

Please advise further.

Right ... so the B&W CM5's would be connected to both the "Front B" and "Surr Back/Amp Assign" speaker posts if you want to bi-amp them and the AMP ASSIGN setting would be set to "SPKR-C".

great so the bi-amp and amp assign option works with either Front A and B?

That would be perfect for my setup.

Correct. The AMP ASSIGN setting of "SPKR-C" simply passes the same signal passed to the Front A/B speaker posts to the Surr Back/Amp Assign speaker posts as well ... get it ... A,B,C. wink.gif

yes of course. My concern was that the bi-amp function wouldnt work. My intention is to switch to Front B and stereo setting when I want to listen to music.

Isn't your "Polk original soundbar" already self- powered?? All the ones I looked
At had their own amps built-in.

If this is the case, why would you connect a marantz AVR to it?
