Sorry for the random first post. Wanted to get something our there yesterday to spark some thought on my part.
Well 5 years later we are in a new house with a wide open basement and that can mean only one thing...it's time to build it all over again, only bigger and better of course!
About 4 years ago I had a build thread on here for the Mile Long Lounge (http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1067354
). It was my baby, but life throws you curveballs once and a while and about 4 months ago, my wife and I happened to be looking a homes on the internet and saw one that seemed like a great deal. Well to make a REALLY LONG story short, we were able to purchase the home of our dreams on 12 acres in the country (hence Greener Pastures Lounge) and are happly settled now.
Why Green Pastures Lounge
you ask? Well much like the Mile Long Lounge
, I have no desire to create strictly a theater room. The lounge will have a large bar, a number of TV's, PJ and screen, bedroom, bathroom, etc. Its basically a place to hang out with friends and family, have a cocktail or two, watch the big game, or fire up a movie.
All of my equipment from the old house came with me and will be reused with the exception of the Blu-ray player. I think I am going to upgrade that. So here's what I got:
- Epson Power Lite 720 PJ
- 100' Elite Fixed Frame Screen
- Sony STR-DG720 7.1 receiver
- Xbox 360 w/ Kinect
- Blu-Ray: TBD
- Polk R50s Tower (Fronts)
- Polk CS1 (Center Channel)
- Polk PSW10 Subwoofer
I will have a 7.1 Setup with separate B speakers for general music listening on in-ceiling speakers over the pool table area
My first Monoprice order gets delivered today. Along with all of the necessary inwall cable and speaker wire, I also ordered the following from our friends at Monoprice:
- (7604) 6-1/2 Inch Dual Woofer- Micro Flange In-Wall Speaker (For L/R Rears)
- (4929) 8 Inch Kevlar In-Ceiling Speakers - w/ 15 Degree Angled Woofer (For L/R Sides)
And 'cause I really wanted them in the last place:
- (4) Dayton Audio TT25-16 PUCK Tactile Transducers (To mount in the sofa)
I am not a huge audiophile so there is not going to be any GG or DD. I have 2" rigid foam that will be on the walls with a normal 2 x 4 stud wall in front.
I will post pictures and a floor plan tonight to give everyone a better understanding of my thoughts and plans.
As always, let me know what you guys think and I welcome any suggestion you may have...
