This will be a specialty thread I'm sure, but for giant monster fans looking for something a little different, I recommend these flicks wholeheartedly. They're samurai stories mixed with a little mysticism and a great take on giant monsters in the form of a statue that comes to life. Great effects.
As for the Blu-ray, I've only skimmed the first film, but Mill Creek seems to have taken the criticism over their Gamera trilogy to heart. The first disc holds both movies in a BD-50 instead of cramming them on a 25. Grain looks clean, and processing doesn't look apparent. I'll have time later this week to fully dissect them, but I think this set will prove positive.
