Reclock issue - format is not supported by hardware / driver

Hi,

Ive been searching around to a solution to an issue I have where i cant seem to use Wasapi to play PCM audio tracks (with LAV audio decoding). Each time i do, no matter the setting it says the format is not supported by the hardware / driver.

Im using it with MPC-HC and a GeForce 9800m GTS via HDMI from my laptop to a Denon AVR 1912 and on to the HDTV.

Could it be that this card/HDMI version is too old? If i set the audio renderer to "System (default)" rather than reclock the audio works and Reclock also works for DD/DTS bitstreaming, but for PCM tracks it does not seem to work. I have "24 bit padded to 32 bit" set as well as the output.

Any ideas / thoughts why Reclock cannot process PCM for me?

Thanks!

I remember I couldn't use "24 padded to 32" under XP, only 16 bit. I've been changing my setup to 2-monitor and 24p32 works fine now. And 24p32 worked fine under win7 always. Make sure Reclock's output is 48 or 96kHz.

Thanks Qaq. Im using Vista so not sure thats the problem. Issue is that even when i select 16bit it gives me the same error! At a loss understanding whats going on here...

Check Windows sound properties. Maybe your AVR setup is only accept 2.0 LPCM (and 5.1 DD/DTS).

Ive got a new AVR that accepts 7.1 LPCM! When i use "direct sound" as the PCM output in reclock it works (ie. receiver says its getting 24bit 192Khz 5.1 sound) but not when i select Wasapi - i get the error then.

Wasapi works for bitstreaming but just not for PCM. its very strange...

please know, I have never used reclock but will share my knowledge as it pertains to your issue.

all audio is PCM befor it reaches your ears.
bitstreaming = send a signal to an avr for decoding to pcm
you cannot bitstream pcm because it is already in a 'decoded' state.

Untick everything in Lav and don't use padded 32.wink.gif

Why untick everything in LAV? Isnt that the audio decode engine?

Any idea why the default Vista audio renderer can pass 7.1 24bit 192Khz PCM to my AVR but Wasapi cannot?
