anyone ever dealt with ambry.com?

Was curious if anyone here has ever dealt with ambry.com. I am trying to take a crash course in subwoofers, and am on a tight budget. In researching budget subs here, the BIC F-12 gets rated well. Ambry has this sub listed for $126 -- which seems too good to be true. Any thoughts?

abbottino -- that's what I thought. I'm not sure if that's WITH or WITHOUT shipping; I put one in my cart and it said FREE 5-7 day shipping, but another portion of the "cart" page said shipping could not be determined until the actual shipment is made, or something to that effect...somewhat concerning...

said the same to me. It ended up being 50 bucks for shipping for two of them. I got to the part where you select your payment method and i chose pay pal so theres a middle man that can save my A$$ just in case. But this site has you place your order then click a link they send to your email that brings you to pay pal where you make your payment. Im thinking i might just pay the higher price or buy 2- of the dayton SUB-1200 's for the same price of one F-12... something just doesnt seem right

abbottino -- if shipping is, say, $30 for one, then it's still only $155 or so -- a great deal, IF it's not a scam. I would do PayPal also, like you say, middleman to save your butt a little bit just in case.

By the way, FWIW -- I know next to NOTHING about subs, basically (I'm trying to catch up! smile.gif ), BUT -- I did see someone say that while the Dayton is similar, it is not magnetically shielded, which means it could interfere with some things (your display?) I don't know if this is true or not, but it's what I read...

Im not really buying that. ive had a few subs at my house and ive never had then interfere with anything from a magnetic field. the only way i see you having an issue is if you were to maybe put your blue ray player ON the sub box.... But that would be stupid anyways haha! that would honestly be the last thing i would be worried about. I plan on using it mainly for music and XBOX which is why i want the F-12 because they say it hits a lower frequency and packs a little more punch

With that being said, i re-read the Pay Pal buyer protection section, and it looks like ill be protected so im going to go ahead and buy the subs. Wish me Luck!

Abottino --

I hear you about the "magnetic shielding." I have no idea, but wanted to pass it along anyway. You are probably right.

Yes, I think you are good with the PayPal buyer protection. I'm going to see what shipping would be for one F12...where did you find the actual shipping charge on their page?

By the way, I wish you luck...I may be taking the same plunge as you, here shortly...

Magnetic shielding is needed if the subwoofer will be placed very close to an old style television set. Remember those old sets that were as deep as they were wide? Those.

I went ahead and pulled the trigger with ambry. They had some speaker cables that I was interested in. I actually called them just to make sure they had them in stock. I spoke with one of their reps. He was very helpful, checked the stock and told me to go ahead and place the order online. Great company to work with.
