Mitsubishi wd-73831 weird color issue.

Ok, this has happened several times in the past few days where the color would go weird {grays and purples}. It does this regardless of input (even the built in menu gets weird colored {like purple instead of blue}).

Seems like it is happening more when the TV has been on for a while.

Likely failing part? Potential fixes?

No ideas? Did the same thing again last night. Shut it off for about 10 minutes and then it was fine again but this is getting bothersome having to shut the TV down every so often so the colors are right again.

I'll try and get a few more pics the next time it does it, including the menu.

These model year tv's (V34 Chassis) had lots of problems with the Optical Engine. I am not sure that the entire engine was bad or if it was just a faulty DMD board. However, with this chassis, there were no individual parts for the optical engine. The only fix was to replace the entire OE.

Actualy there is a fix. Theres a sensor you can replace in the engines with bad color and flickering pictures. Ive bought alot of the sensors before they stoped selling them and have a few left. Instead of replaceing the entire light engine if you can solder pretty good you can change the sensor and it will fix it.
