2005 Samsung 56" DLP light tunnel issue?

I know it has the light tunnel issue, which shows a 2" dark grey translucent line down the right side. I didn't get it fixed under the class action suit warranty (long story). But there's something else: a constant electrical noise from the casing (annoying). It started soon after the line did but it always went away after a short time. Now it's constant. I have a new TV coming but what I want to know is this all the same thing, the light tunnel, and if someone fixes that part will the noise be gone? Thanks in advance for your help.
