I am utterly confused between Sony 50ES and 4810. I was decided on Sony, but no one seems to have it in stock. 4810 was suggested instead and I really liked the feedback here, and can go the extra $1k mile to get a really exceptional product.
Based on my room description, with white ceiling, very dark behind the screen wall, dark rug, one dark wine colored side wall, one white side wall, 12 ft screen to PJ and screen to seat, and some ambient light leak from gaps under the door and from a window (covered by blinds) above the stairs.. Will JVC will not perform to its best, and will it be justified to pay 1k extra? I can further control ambient light during day, when I am more likely to watch sports.
For now, it seems motorized zoom is not needed, as I am not going for an amamorphic lens.
One way out of the confusion is to just drop both, and get a Benq w7000. Save some money for now, and upgrade later when there are true 4k projectors with 4k content around. W7k is bright, very good 3D performance. Downside is black levels and rainbows.Rainbows bother me a little but I can live with them - and try the 6x speed. Not very sure about how bad are the black levels and how bad would be dark movies. Edit - and yes, it seems it would be noisy, and heat up the room.
I definitely need the projector by Thursday or else it would get postponed indefinitely.
