When I view tv from just a couple of steps to left or right the picture washes out really bad, my mom even noticed it and also im not videophile so im not looking for it either, and this just bothers me for some reason I cant stand it gives me a feeling to my stomach. The pic looks great from straight on but im not always sitting straight on. My previous tv a vizio xvt3d554 the successor to the 553 didnt wash out at all when viewed from those angles and it seems like the pic was on par with this one, i feel bad and like I got ripped off is their anything I can do or should I try and exchange for another tv 950 maybe its just this panel. I know it is suppose to fade but not this bad I dont think. I would think because its sony the tv would be better than my vizio but maybe I was wrong the vizio was full array also hope its not to late to exchange or get something different. One more thing when watching hd uverse the lakers and spurs today it seemed liked my vizio looked better on that channel than this tv what can i do i dont want to feel like i wasted 5000 please help.

By the sound of your disappointment your best bet would be to get a refund and look into a plasma. These sets LED/LCD have always suffered off axis viewing, but from your description your set is worse than others have stated.

In my experience, the TV looks good at 30 or even 40 degrees angle. Colors still look good etc. The two things that I do see when I sit off angle (2 seats left or right/15 degrees) are:

1 - Blooming is more evident (more light seems to bleed through at an angle)
2 - Black level drops a bit (not quite the inky blacks)

But I still find the picture look very good in general. Yes the best seat in the house dead center and it is a bit frustrating to notice the black level dip just a bit. But most people who I have over don't even comment on the difference because it still looks pretty great.

Not sure what you are seeing. Sounds worse than I what I am describing.

Oh, and one strange thing you can see, but only with repeating patters like the example the PS3 background with the bright sparkles, you can kind of see the local dimming "working" when you are off angle. Its pretty wierd but I don't see this any other time. I actually changed my PS3 background to "classic" which does not have the very bright, moving sparkles, just to avoid seeing this phenomenon.

Still, I find the off angle image degradation better than my last LED/LCD and not that bad at all. Plasma's degrade much less at angles but all LCDs images seem to degrade some off angle.

That's true. If you really want to avoid this issue, plasma may be your best bet.

That is exactly how my 923 unit performs off axis also. I find it particularly good off axis but I have 46 inch.

Well thats the thing im scared of IR with plasma or I would of waited for the ZT60, but like i said the pic is great dead on but maybe im being a bit to picky because of the off axis, but my lower end vizio off axis is not a problem at all o well. Im gonna post a youtube video of the problem when i get home an maybe some of yall can tell me if my set is defected with the off axis or that is the norm that yall get with the angle from you guys tv.

Some of these panels vary on Off-Axis viewing capabilities I have a 46" with excellent off-axis viewing but it seems the larger panels (65") are more prone to viewing anomalies ? banding / faulty pixels / off-axis etc.

I agree IMRIZZO. It seems the larger the tv the more issues a person may or may not run into. My HX750 has excellent off axis viewing as well.

FYI, I know there have been a lot of complaints recently in regards to banding and dead pixels, however this is still a great TV. Haven't received mine yet but am very excited to get it next week. I mention this as Best Buy appears to be blowing these out. We are not suppose to talk price, so I won't but go to Best Buy website and check out what they are selling these for now! I just went down to get a price adjustment for mine. I think it's steal for this new price mark if you happen to have a BB in your area.

Wow, strongly considering this set and that new price is a bargain considering Sony was kind of locking the price up until now. I guess they have now taken that lock off. This is probably because they want to clear the inventory before the 4K sets arrive in a couple of weeks. If the largest chain drops the price like this I would think others merchants will have no choice but to follow suit.

Get my 55" 950 tomorrow and the ES8000 heads back to Amazon.

Who has done a metered calibration and can you provide your settings?

Why would they block it and what are we supposed to be able to tell from a video clip of a TV screen on a computer monitor????

Your image seems exceptionally bright (backlight setting) or it may be from your camera's metering ?

Immediately turn off auto light sensor ( affects picture too much)

it's the camera, it makes the video brighter. And backlight is on Min.

the copyright thing youtube has and I'm just trying to help people who don't own a this tv, like if they want to see the black levels, banding or anything else. I know you can't tell that from a video and sorry my english is not that good so i hope u understand me. Lol smile.gif

I uploaded this video and i know it's a little bit brighter, you know how hard it is to take a video from a tv, I want you guys to see if there is any banding and remember cameras can see more light than your eyes, so if you see banding on my video you can barely see it on this tv!!

It just looks like the normal amount of expected minimal vertical banding that all of the 55HX950s display. Nothing out of the ordinary or anything that should be too distracting unless you are looking for it. If anything, considering the clip is of soccer, I'd say you have slightly less than other 55s that I have been asked to look at for banding.

At $3,500....... anyone who was ever on the fence about this TV should be sprinting to Best Buy to take advantage of this sale.

I definitely tried to take advantage of that price. Unfortunately, they're clearing out the HX950, and they're not readily available. The guy I dealt with at Magnolia tried several different methods to locate one for sale but came up empty handed. mad.gif

No clue what I'm going to do at this point as both the 65HX950 and Sharp lc-80le844u are not available at my local B&M stores. I don't really want an edge lit set.
I was lucky enough to purchase one at the Magnolia Store( Houston/Galleria). They told me it will arrive by Saturday to the store to be delivered on Sunday. I hope they will not call me later on to inform me that the TV was not in stock.....

Wow, I was about to purchase a 55" and I ended up with the 65" one!!

These TVSs from Best Buy do not come with glasses..... so, is it true that the cheap ones for Playstation are better? Please let me know which glasses should I buy.

Thanks
