Wow, I was about to purchase a 55" and I ended up with the 65" one!!

These TVSs from Best Buy do not come with glasses..... so, is it true that the cheap ones for Playstation are better? Please let me know which glasses should I buy.

Thanks

Amazon will price match and their showing 3 available.

Unfortunately, Amazon wouldn't match the price because you cannot add the item to the cart in Best Buy's website.

I like the PS3 glasses. You can practically turn your head upside down and the picture is unaffected. While the more expensive ones have been reviewed that if you barely turn your head you've got problems.

Good to know, I still need to order a couple pairs.

I've been shopping for the Elite, but I couldn't resist this set at the new BB price. Delivery Friday.

You're a lucky guy! BB was completely out in my area. I did, however, get Amazon to match the buydig.com price, which was a good enough deal that I took it. I hope to have my 65HX950 next week,along with my PS3 glasses. I'm really, really excited about this TV.

Hi
I went to BB to see if I can get hx 950 65 inch.
They did not have it but the guy at Magnolia said I could buy demo on display for $ 3600 5 year warranty and sals tax included.
What you think should I go for it or I wait for those 4K TVs?
Thanks

I was able to get it into my cart. 3,499.98 Wow!
post #3492 of 4490
You're right, they updated it from Coming Soon and you can add it to the cart. When I select a store for pick up, I get a message that the item is unavailable in my area and can't be shipped to a local store. It won't let me ship it directly to my home either.

Oh well, I'm still happy with the price I got, although it's not the unbelievable low price of 3499. That is just ridiculous eek.gif

The only problem with waiting is, what problem or baggage will the 4K sets come with ?? I'm in no hurry to update to 4K for several reason first and foremost is, it is a yet untested (by consumers) and we are the ones who find all those anomaly's the manufacturers overlook or fail to mention.

I got my 55" delivered yesterday. Calibrated using settings here. I found a stuck green pixel at middle-top portion of screen. I am going to send it back to Amazon cause I am blessed/cursed with 20/13 vision and can't stand the stuck/dead pixel middle of screen. I ran the wow disc pixel flipper few times but did not help. Other than one pixel TV is excellent with very minor banding that I could see on soccer channel if I look for it.

I thought about it.... and that was my fear if I had decided to go for the 55" HX950 .

$3400 VS $5000 (plus 3 full years of 0% interest)

Then I started wondering in how the new Edgelit 4K would handle native 1080P, 720P and standard tv...... ..........

Finally, I realized that I would go for the 65" HX95O the best and LAST 1080p XBR ever manufactured with such an expensive Full Array technology.

This is the way I see it, I survived with a excellent 50" 720P plasma for 6 years, while pretty much everybody else was with a 1080P set......

How long will it take to get a top of the line 65" 4K for around $3500 ?

Guys, Need some quick help (yes I know this has been answered but cant find it). I found a 65hx950 open box for 3k. About to purchase it but need to see the panel hours, how do I check this? Also what is the best way to check for banding, grey/white screen shot? Please help quickly. Also anything else I should look for?

Well I got my replacement tv a couple of days ago and so far I'm very happy with it only issue is it has the same problem as the last tv with the white clouding in the black screens but this tv has very minimal signs of it so I can deal with it.I finally got me a keeper! :-)

Anyone have issues with picture sharpness on their 55".

Coming from an ES8000 the picture on the HX950 has better blacks and screen uniformity but seems to lack noticeably in picture sharpness. Almost as if the picture is too smooth. The reality engine fixes this but increased picture noise a lot.

I was all set to get the Sammy 64f8500 until I saw the 65hx950 on sale at BB. My local store had two in stock, one demo and a new one. When I got there the new one turned out to be a like new, open box. Thanks to rizzo, I checked the panels hrs on each. The demo had 555 hrs and the open box 41 hrs. I was able to negotiate the open box for $2999 so it turned out better than if it was new. Didn't see anything that jumped out when I briefly looked at it but will check it out better when I get it home tomorrow (15 days to decide).

Im having trouble talking myself out of jumping to the new Sony 4k set after seeing it today. Couldn't see any banding on it while it was playing a snowboarding scene. I almost fainted.

This is going to be my first venture with 3D.

I wonder if there is a way to stream 3D content with this tv?

I just saw that Sony Entertainment website advertises 3D streaming with Playstation.....

I just can not see how they excluded their top of the line tv from this feature......

You can make the image felt more pop-up/stereo with following settings:

[Reality Creation] --> "Manual"
++ [Resolution] --> 50%
++ [Noise Filtering] --> Min (0%)

Yes, there are 3D streaming options in the app menu.

I had better luck with resolution at 20 and noise filter at 50. Go with a 50 resolution results in a lot of noise and artifacts.

Noise filter just blurs and removes fine detail from the image.

If you want a crisper image, noise filter or any noise reduction isn't the answer.
post #3510 of 4490
No other setting has sharpened the image. Also, I disagree a little on reality creation removing detail. I've stared at this screen turning it on and off and IMO you get a little more detail with it on a low setting because with it off the image smooths itself out too much.

You should try it.

The major downside has been artifacts which I also hate.

Based on owning the ES8000 and 950 the ES8000 has sharper images but the 950 has better color, uniformity, and blacks. You are sacrificing image sharpness though. Even my wife noticed and she doesn't care about TV's. She prefers the Es8000 picture but I can't stand the flashlighting and clouding.

I am also noticing judder with the 950 that I didn't notice on the ES8000.

With that said I can see why people claim the 950 is better. It produces a more natural picture when it comes to color as well as blacks.

I think the industry is in transition right now because regardless of what you spend you are getting a TV that has issues. edge lit v. back lit v. plasma all with different and major issues depending on what bothers you.
