Mixed feelings about the quality of the transfer. It appears to be the old 2006-ish DVD transfer but with the contrast and color boosted to a pretty high level much like Pulp Fiction's BR release was resulting in some black crush topped with some DNR resulting in a clumpy grain image in darker scenes.. Add to that the soundtrack mix tones down the various rock music tunes to an unacceptable level. The deleted scenes which were always poor quality vhs tape samples, are pretty much unwatchable here. The general quality of the transfer *is* a step up from the old dvd release but the boosted contrast and color makes a choice between the two a wash, imo.
IMO, the old Elite laserdisc from '96 is still the best looking and sounding overall release of the film.
