Thank you sir! Will give that a try.

If I'm not trying to increase enclosure volume with polyfil should I bother using it at all?

Bad news, I had a few too many complimentary beverages and threw out my back playing beach volleyball. I can't even get them to the basement but man is that a sexy looking driver.biggrin.gif

Between what looks to be good looking QC and excellent packaging, has there been a single injured driver upon delivery? I am waiting on the flat packs as I just don't have the time with the 10 month old on the move and the recent injury to get into building my own. Look forward to testing them out as soon as I can, probably just use the little t amp on the desktop free air.smile.gif

Getting good use out of 2 of them already!

Edit: added couple pics

Awesome! That little gal is going to grow up to be a bass aficionado!

Polyfil is to basically lower the f3 a little, dampen the box and I think to also dissipate a little heat. That's what I understand it to do but if you put up a thread the answers can be all over the place. Pretty much go ahead an use it at about 1/2 to 1 lb per cuft in a sealed enclosure.

Sealed or ported?

Apparently it makes a difference in sealed and ported enclosures but not sure if it is the same.

Here is an article Josh put out on the subject: http://www.data-bass.com/data?page=content&id=79

I haven't had a chance to read the entire article yet but did skip to the end. Looks like it is a pretty good idea to add it unless you are in a SPL competition.

Thx MJ I'll just use less than originally planned for my sealed enclosure.

If you can easily remove the driver, I would test the enclosure without, with 1/2 insulation- 1 pillow, then full blown insulation,-. Maybe 2 pillows. Then determine which setup delivers the goods for you.

It may be 7 drivers short of the standard build, but it sounds good! 5.1 cubes + 6# polyfill

Turned out nice! What are your dimensions?

I do the same, but with 320 after stain coat, and need to scoop some 000 and 0000 for inbetween the two-three poly coats.

Does good to quell any cabinet resonances. Heat dissipation is not a huge deal here for ported, and sealed, they should still be in good shape without, but I still always do polyfill to take care of those resonances...

Thanks! It's Rustoleum Truck Bed liner. It's tough and cleans well with a wet cloth when it gets dusty, and if you gouge it, a quick spray to the spot blends right in.

Thank you! 26x22x22 exterior. It's an 18 D2, and will be run with an iNuke1000DSP.

Thx Robert, I might tinker when I get to that point but accessibility won't be the greatest once the cab is sealed up.

I currently have an Ascendant Avalanche (XBL^2) 12" in a ~6.5 ft^3 ported box tuned to ~18hz and powered by a BASH 350w Plate Amp (un-modded filters). Would an SI 15HTD2 be a good drop-in replacement (other than cutting the baffle obviously) in this enclosure? If so, would it really offer much in the way of an upgrade?

The current enclosure is ported with dual 3" flared ports... will this be a limiting factor, either with the current 350w BASH amp or in the future with more power? I've not had any audible port noise to date with the Avalanche 12".

One driver as a drop-in replacement now would be temporary with my eye towards dual-subs in the future when I move to a bigger dedicated room. At that time I'd build two matching enclosures, likely with slot ports, and power them with an iNuke 3000DSP.

Thanks in advance!

thank you for sharing.

I am contemplating a 10 footer with 15Hz tune.

what do you have for ports geometry, first res. frequency and air velocity in each of these?

thank you

edit two boxes wired in parallel. I also added a HPF and EQ at 20hz

I was wondering about that product. I was at HD the other day and saw the spray can version and wondered how that would compare to Duratex. BTW, I was at Lowe's on Sat. and saw that they had the spray can and a regular can to roll it on. Can you take a better more well lit picture a little closer so that we can see how it looks compared to the Duratex pics that we've seen? From that pic it looks like you've done a great job.
I use the rattle can. If you take time to prep with filler and primer, it really is the Easy Button for a top notch finish. This is a 1.5" tweeter for scale:

Rolled on Duratex, stronger, not as nice looking, looks more "DIY":

Scott, Nick must know that you have enough bass already so he gave it to those who are truly in need... hmmm... although that would have left fatshaft out too and he got his....

Kidding of course, that sucks you haven't heard anything yet - I hope you get them soon. Are you doing dual opposed enclosures? I can't remember if you said.
Oh, and I'm down to 7 drivers right now I shipped one off this morning to Erich so he could get the flat packs going for the SI drivers.

Hmmm, yes. That would make more sense. I'd rather whine about it here though where it would be less effective.

Lol, I paid the man $1,700. I'm not the supposed to followup after that. wink.gif

Can't decide. It will probably either two quad driver dual-opposed boxes or four dual driver front facing boxes.

i did not get shipping confirmation either. But I did receive the delivery one. I was getting worried by the time, tried (unsuccessfully) to get hold of Nick, etc. Just when I was about to explode, the friendly notification from FedEx showed up in my inbox.
