Thx Scott, after I implemented the new center and re ran audyssey it wasn't what I was hoping for and turning up at reference didn't seem loud at all. That happened one time before and the levels seemed more in line (after re running audyssey), I mean reference is loud and should be very dynamic. I pulled out omni mic today and it revealed a few things that will help. Simply turning off the ssd 15s increased spl at 80hz by 8DB and 90hz by 7db which really helps to level out the response. The ONE penalty is -9DB at 60hz. Sooo, i'm going to work on tweaking placement of the front stage and fill subs. On a good note, the SI18s floated through the incredible hulk without issue.

Yeah, probably just best to disable Audyssey. It's robbing you of dynamics, for sure.

I just sprayed them actually You can see the Sono wrap if you get up close, but once you tuck them back in against the wall, you don't see it at all. Yea, That surround sticking out is even with a double baffle and the speaker recessed by one of the two sheets. That surround is crazy! But I like how it looks too Thanks for the compliments!!


Actually, I hadn't run the wire to them or done the 9v battery test last night when I posted the pic, so, I did that, got the wire to the amp, and tucked them into their spots and was once again literally out of gas. I will be giving them a 20hz break-in for a few hours tonight, and then I can really run them through the paces. I am just so dang excited to finally have 8 18's that I can't stand it. I almost called in sick today

I have an electrician coming out to give me an estimate on running a dedicated 20 amp line to my cv 5000 amp to run 8 si drivers. When you are facing my screen the power comes into the house at the right side of the room but I need the line to go to the left side to the room to laundry room on the left.

I can't run it across the ceiling because I'm blocked by the hvac. I'm curious what kind of ballpark I'm looking at as far as price. I have an Angie's list coupon for a free estimate, but I could see the price getting bumped up 70 bucks to do the job because with a free estimate he probably assumes I won't get another estimate, and he's right.

my electrician (keep in mind that i employ him for $200k + per year) usually charges me (really i usually give him) about $100/hr. cash for him and two other guys, materials included. i live in a part of the country where construction is booming and he PAYS his help because they are the best and he wants to keep them around. I'd say this should be the normal-inflated pay for any area with starving electricians. that's my idea for your ballpark figure. every circumstance is different, but one dedicated circuit shouldn't take more than an hour. if you can go under the house, should be even quicker.

Is there a replacement now that the 18 are gone for four months?

Not this time, Nick honestly had no idea the popularity these would have once they started getting installed They are killer. 8 in my setup has me in HEAVEN. They are just unreal, but now it is to start working on my signal rolloff, or whatever is happening to my sub 10hz content. Marantz 8801? hehehehe

Beast - You use a 4311, right? I don't think the receiver is your issue. What else do you have in the chain again?

Wow, nice Brandon now I'm really getting pumped. I've probably asked you before, but what is the size of your room? Mine is 17 wide by 23 deep so I'm hoping to have similar results with my 8 that you are getting in your room. It's one thing to read sub reviews where guys that have little experience rave about their new SVS or whatever, but it's a whole different thing when someone like you makes a statement like that.

Can't blame you for that. This is the second go-around for these preorders. With the first one, the ETA and true ship dates were darn close, perhaps exactly accurate.

Nothing. I removed the DCX to just get these up and running. The only other thing that could be causing it is the player. OR the omnimic not being calibrated. or a good combination of both. I know below 10hz on the test dvd there isn't much going on and I have to turn the amp gains way up to get them to really move but then again, there are 8 running so even at reference, they don't have to move much anyways. Even at 10hz, or am I wrong here?


You're gonna love it man! the whole system from 10hz up, the bass is so seamless and level-sounding. great dynamics and I know I will never have to look over to the clip lights again (I think this makes me the most happy)
