Advice on new receiver/amp combo

I'm in the process of planning out a new setup and don't know anything about receivers.

I plan on a 7.2 setup that I will build myself. I will hopefully have 2 IB subs included in that mix.

Will have my ps3/360/various consoles hooked up, and I would like to be 3D ready.

You need to supply more info. Are you looking for a separate preamp/processor and an amp? Or a receiver?

How much are you looking to spend?

I need a new receiver and a amp.

I don't know what sort of budget to have because I'm not sure what to get. I'm good at picking out car audio but when it comes to home audio I'm a complete moon.

Denon 3312CI receiver "im biased, I own one". This will do your 7.2 setup and 3D ready.
Emotiva XPA-200 Monoblock Amps. (2)
Any speakers you decide with that setup should be fine.

Seems like a pretty awesome setup.

I will have to look into that.

Do you really need a separate amp too? What speaker are you using? How big is the room?

I want to try my hand at building my speakers and all of it so currently I don't know.
