newbie wondering about my setup (hk avr&

completely new to this forum and for the most part to home theater idea

I have Harman Kardon 2600 avr (65w x7.1)
Just bought Pioneer SP-BS21-LR Bookshelf Loudspeakers
and Pioneer SP-FS51-LR Floorstanding Speakers.

Here are all my questions:

1. IS THIS RECEIVER CAPABLE OF HANDLING 4 OF THESE PIONEERS THAT ARE RATED AT 6ohm?
I enjoy the sound coming from this system (5.1), however my receiver has to be up to almost max level (-11dB or lower) to truly show off what these speakers are capable off.

2. IS THIS NORMAL OR IS MY AVR GOING TO EVENTUALLY OVERHEAT, OR BE COMPROMISED IN SOME OTHER WAY?

3. I CAN STILL RETURN THE SPEAKERS AND TRY SOMETHING DIFFERENT. WHAT WOULD BE YOUR ADVISE FOR BUDGET/MID RANGE SPEAKER SETUP?

Most modern HT receivers can easily handle 6 ohm speakers, and the HK will be just fine.

Those Pioneers are excellent speakers for their price. If you bought the speakers locally and can return them, have you heard the new versions of them, the FS52 and BS22? Supposedly worth the extra money. You can read and ask questions in the owners thread if you want to know more.

i bought them from newegg, but they came in in a box that was all torn up, so i'm thinking about sending it back (even though speakers are fine) and getting my $ back. are fs52 and bs22 significantly better than old model?

Newegg doesn't take returns without a restocking fee; they'll only do replacement. Plus, you'd end up having to pay return shipping. So unless you are unhappy with them, I would keep them.

As to how much better the new version is, go to that thread I linked to.

Newegg actually *does* take returns without doing a restocking fee.

But you generally have to ask for that.

And also have a decent reason as to why they should do that. smile.gif

I also just purchased the FS51s from New Egg, along with the C21. I am wondering if my 1994 JVC receiver (RX815V), which is rated at 8-16 ohms, is up to the task or if I should also purchase a new receiver. I will only be running 3.0 channels.
