Good Day,

After endless research, I am still lost and leaving this decision up to you pros!

Which Bookshelf speakers would you buy for movies/music hooked to a Denon AVR-1613?

Any poll votes, or any reply here with more information are greatly appreciated!

***Prices are for the pair***

Thanks in advance!

Why not post your locale and a link to your closest Craigs List? You might be surprised at what is available used.

Ok, I looked through Craigslist but I am fairly new so don't know exactly what is good. I don't live near any big cities so there might not be that much of a selection.

Those are the 2 closest to me, Thanks for the reply Knucklehead!

Don't have any experience with those but they get reviewed favorably. I have Hsu HB-1s and love'em. Great clean and clear sound, fantastic bass (they are known for their subs) and easy to drive with any avr. Plenty of good reviews out there and worth checking out. They often go on sale for $129 but still worth it at full price.

The Boston sells for $149 each, are you getting a special price for the pair?

Thanks for the suggestion. I did some research and it looks like the HSU's are impossible for me to get in Canada.

Can anyone else help me? I am thinking the Energy CB-10's for $150/pair might be the best speakers of the 3 options but l'd love to hear more opinions or votes.

Ok so that makes 2 votes for Boston Acoustics. Only 1 more day until I make my purchase so hoping to get some more votes.

I picked other in the $150 range. The Infinity P163 are on sale for $53.50 each at Fry's.

Now that I see you're in Canada maybe Fry's wont work for you.

I'd say go for the Bostons.

Yes, Frys won't work being in Canada. Thanks for all the suggestions everyone. In a sudden turn of events, I found a pair of used Paradigm Phantom V3 Tower speakers - $200 for the pair.

I'm thinking this is probably the best go, not a lot of info about them online but they must be a better speaker than the new bookshelf's since its a tower.

sounds like you got a great deal, congrats!

The Phantom is nice > however, a little laid back in the treble, still a good deal for you.
