Upgrading from my AE2000 - going for either an AE7000 or an RS45 - thoughts? - Page 2

Hi. I think by spec you mean where there is a range say a given piece (lens, polarizer, light bulb, whatever), performs within a range of plus or minus around some specified point the critical pieces in the 65 are closer to the better end of the range for the performance parameter sought.. Better parts, better chicken.

I'm very much looking forward to reading reviews of the RS46 as well as the new Panasonic 8000. I'd actually resigned myself to waiting at least another year before upgrading my PJ as it seems the newer Panasonics would be a major step down in ways (especially repelled by the reported dynamic contrast shenanigans that have the iris visibly pulsing brightness from shot to shot, which never happened with the 2000, not to mention reports of the 7000 being softer and having issues with hot spots at the corners) and the JVCs would deliver sub-par 3D imagery with the added bonus of bulbs that barely last before degrading. the RS46 has apparently addressed the bulb issue, so if reviews find that the new machines have significantly improved 3D performance over last year's models, I may go for it.

In the meantime, I've been looking at 3D flat panel options for my other room to tide me over in case I end up waiting a year or more to upgrade the PJ (it's definitely a case of one or the other, not both). smile.gif

Just wanted to weigh in here with my personal experience.
I have an AE2000 which I bought in 2008 and have accumulated 1400 hours(I don't game or watch TV.)

I upgraded a few months ago to the mighty Sony vw1000 es 4K.

Having AB'd the Panny to the Sony there is no dispute in my mind that the Panny 2000 was/is a beautiful machine.
Sure the Sony destroys it in practically every facet.
The Sony 4K will knock out most of today's PJ's(with the exception of the Sim2 )

Sometimes less is more.
Even back in the day the general consensus was that the 2000 was a tad softer than contemorary rival Full HD pjs(Sanyo and Sony)

But the panny still holds it own to the Sony 4K
It has a lovely filmic texture thanks to the smooth screen tech
It also has excellent colour gradation.

I have not seen the Panny 7000 or 8000 but if they have continued in the same tradition as that set by the 2000 then I can see them being excellent value.

My two cents.
