Install Problems: No Sound

Thread Starter
I had the ATT Uverse guy install a Samsung Blu Ray BD C6500.
He connected it by HDMI to the TV.
It is all connected to the internet, the picture looks good, but I'm getting no sound when I try to play a movie or music.

I have a 5.1 surround sound speaker system hooked up to a
Denon AVR 687
This model does not have a HDMI.
Is something obvious missing in the connection?
Or do I have to fiddle with the set-up the Blu-Ray on the screen?
I have RTFM but it makes no sense to me.
I'm a novice but willing to learn if you make it clear.
I appreciate your help.

You should be able to get audio through the tv, but not the avr as you have it set up. You'll need to hook the BD player to the avr in order to get your sound through there, right now the BD is only going to the TV.

You probably have your tv speakers set to off since you use an AVR. Turn the TV speakers on in the tv menu in order to get sound from the BD for now until you hook up the BD to AVR.

Hi doyledh, connect an optical cable or 7.1 channel analog audio out from C6500 to receiver.
