This is what finally came together:
2 x shadow 60's for L/R
1 x shadow center
2x shadow 60's for rears
1x GXw15 sub
All powered by an Arcam AVR600
Should have all the gear later this week!

Lets us know how they sound. My dealer said I wouldn't get my speakers until 10/24. I think they screwed up and didn't get the order in when they said they would. My guess is they didn't place the order until I called and reminded them. It takes three weeks to get them from Canada.

Hi Guys

First time poster here

I am also after some on wall speakers

I heard the KEF T305s and although the speaker were crisp, they seemed to lack some depth and missed something in the mid range

I know you said you heard the shadows....have you heard the Kefs to make a comparison?

Do the shadows perform much better?

Thanks

My shadow S60s were supposd to be installed last week. The dealer said they had a hard time getting the center channel speaker and delayed to 11/1. I talked to them yesterday to confirm the appointment and they said that the manufacture rhad some problems getting them shipped, and things went down hill from there. Apparently the speakers need to go through Toronto and then somehow get routed to Phoenix. I was told that due to "Sandy", the delivery wouuld be delayed and we are on a day to day wait. The Left/Right are sitting in the dealers facility. just waiting for the Center.mad.gif

Any idea how the monitor audio 60's compare to the def tech xtr 60s? Looking for some new on wall speakers to replace my Mythos 6's and 7 center.

Honestly....the whole set up sounds amazing!! smile.gif

The sound of the MA speakers is completely different to the KEFS (and so much better IMO)

The depth of the sound from the speakers is great (it defies logic from its slender size)...and the gold sub plays its part in providing impact!! smile.gif

The Yamaha 3010 amp works in perfect harmony with the speakers and sub.....and the bonus is that the model is heavily discounted.

I am very happy....movies have impact....music fills the room ...the whole 5.1 set up looks great.....and even the wife is impressed!!

If your reading this, and researching 'on wall' speakers, I dont think you need to look further that the Monitor Audio Shadow series.

My set up
2 x S50 speakers
2 x S25 rear speakers
1 x centre speaker

Monitor Audio 12" GSW12 Subwoofer
Yamaha 3010 AV reciever / amp

Sony TV KDL-55HX853
Panasonic BDT-500 blu ray
PS3
Sky HD+

Pics when you get it! I'm curious to see what the setup will look like...I've heard great things about them but...just like your previous situation...never got a chance to hear them.

It seems, based on the uniformity of reviews, the XTR 60s get the most solid reviews.

In that case, Revel Ultima2 Gem2s.

Or, to get like 90% or more of their performance for music and a somewhat higher sensitivity for movies at fraction of their price, their close siblings the JBL PT800s, which also have an on-wall mountable center speaker to match them available for a great price as well, the JBL PC600 if you'd rather have that than a third PT800 as the center speaker for some reason.

I am looking at similar speakers. I auditioned psb w1, golden ear ss50 and totem 3. Psb had the best bang for the buck. Can't seem to find MA in our area. Revel and totem 5 are out of budget. Triad is bulky

Hey, how did this setup turn out? I'm looking for on-walls my self and interested.

I am also looking to purchase the Monitor Audio speakers. Any update now that they are installed?

Any updates about your speakers?

I too looking at on-walls for a 50/50 mix of music and movie. I will be using an SVS sub (sb12 or sb13). I had in-walls in previous home..but need on-walls for this one that are not deeper than 5 inches or so...WAF.

Kef t301
DefTech xtr series
Monitor Audio Shadow Series
Jamo D500

Issue I have is the whole all but the Jamo do to have the MTM configuration at an optimal positioning for a center channel. Any thoughts on how truly important that is and. Does anyone know of a relatively cost effective (<$800 each) speaker LCR on-wall configuration that has a truly designed, timbre matched center?

Thanks

While I have not heard the Totem Tribe speakers, I have heard a lot of other Totem brand speakers and I found, that for the price, they were absolutely horrible to listen to. They all sounded like they were covered with a heavy painters tarp. This is my own opinion, but go demo them before you jump on them. Just my $.02

If you can go a bit higher (and if you can live with the box-less design) Anthony Gallo Strada reference speakers (L/R/C) may be what you are looking for.

http://www.roundsound.com/reference-speakers/reference-strada-side-speaker-bundle.html

They are small and mostly location neutral. I have a very strict WAF (small living room) and only limited locations on the wall available. They worked great. They simply disappear and fill the room. Two prerequisites for Stradas

1. you definitely need a subwoofer. I support them with a SVS SB12 sealed sub and it's a good match. Very musical.
2. you will need a set of relatively decent electronics. I used them with an Onkyo 608 AVR before and the outcome was liveable but average. As soon as I replaced 608 with an Onkyo 818 they have become completely different speakers.

Cheers

+1 The Athony Gallo Strada's sound excellent, and an accurate, detailed sub like the SVS SB12-NSD would be perfect with them.

Anyone posting pictures of their Monitor Audio Shadow installations? I'm considering the 50's for LCR and the 25's in the rear with the RXW-12 Sub. Would like to hear some reviews from the guys that have something similar installed as I think some of you have had the systems now for 6+ months.

Thanks,
Rick
