After being in this business long before the inception of Microsoft, it is fair to state that Win8 will have its share of bugs, service packs,hot fixes, and out-of-band updates.
The Microsoft track record speaks for itself.
Yes, there are new features in Win8. New-More-Better-Upgrade Now, is the Microsoft/Apple marketing strategy.
But... do you NEED bells and whistles enough to tolerate the user interface changes and bugs?
Over decades of hard-won experience, I've learned to live on the trailing edge of technology for personal use.
I simply do not want the grief of bleeding-edge hassles at home. YMMV.
The real test of a streaming OS is how it handles storage failures.
Do you lose the entire disk, the entire array, or ???
Considering the amount of work in a movie collection, data loss is not acceptable.
Large TB drives have a much higher failure rate than the drives of the past.
And when they fail, that large space is a much larger impact on data loss.
