My current schosen ownership of three high-end LD players was chosen to be Theta Voyager, Runco LJR 1 DA (own nice DAC's), and the pioneer HLD-X0. The Pioneer HLD-X0 performance has been clearly revealed and I found it sonically superior to any other high-end audio laserdisc transport sourceI have heard (Yes even HLD-X9, but is the second best player to me. I have the Theta and Runco, for I am a fanatic about good LD audio. I dont mind a bit about having to turn disc and end of side A with the X0. It's like playing vinyl and turning over the disc. Only, you get great video to boot! For the performance of the X0, when matched with good high-end components, is dog garn impressive. I use Jadis amplification (large 120W tube amp) and to fill the room with sound, from the X0's initial signal, are Thiel CS 7.2's. I will likely never replace the rigid 80 lb. Pioneer HLD-X0 LaserDisc player, for nothing sounds better playing all the music LD titles (i.e. concerts) that aren't available to enjoy on DVD.
