New Logitech Harmony Touch - Page 8

My 700's usb port broke off so I couldn't make changes anymore. I told my GF to get me a Touch for X-mas and so far I'm happy with it. I love the tv favorites aspect of it, and its been relatively easy to configure. I have one issue though which I have to resolve involving my Denon and its inputs. If I was last playing something using one input on my Denon and shut everything down, when I power on something different requiring a different input, it will not change the input because the receiver isn't done powering up yet. I've looked into changing the delay, but it won't let me insert a delay before it sets the inputs in the software.

Anyone else having a similar issue, and resolved it?

I was considering replacing my Harmony One with the Touch. Is it possible to change the sequence of commands or add an additional command, at the end of the string, to change inputs on the Denon? I am currently using the Denon 4310 with My Harmony One, which has no problem, and hope a change of remote will not cause this same issue.

Sorry, no. I'm using my Touch with a Denon 1911 and have had no similar issues at all. I've not had to try to adjust any delays on my Touch. And probably at least 90% of the time my Denon is powered on to a different activity from the previous activity. All my settings were transferred from my Harmony 880, but I'm pretty sure all those delays were the default settings for the 880. Hopefully, someone else will be able to give you some guidance with your issue.

Are these laggy like all of the other Harmony remotes? I owned a 725 and a Harmony One and was never very impressed with them. Dodgy touch screens and clicky, plastic buttons with delayed response. Ugh. I'm using one of the newer One-for-all remotes at the moment and it's hell of a lot better although it was a bit expensive and the web set up isn't as comprehensive or newbie-friendly.

digging into the posts and replies for this unit. I own 2- 900's, 880 and 1100 and just got the touch.

As of now i like the 900 much better than the touch but im still playing with it. The screen background for activities seems cheap to me. They could have done a lot more with this part of the unit. There should be a way to rearrange the activities on the screen and a quick shot to devices like the 900 and one units but there is not. For me i can figure it out but if im gone my wife and kids will not know what to do so there should be a way to change the screen to allow easier user interface characteristics for those that did not set the remote up and may only know how to use the remote for normal usage duties.

With that being said, this remote has promise but for now i put the 900 and ONE ahead. The biggest drag is having to use different software for this remote as opposed to the others. I see that you can "add" devices on the "online" software set up page so i was going to move all my remotes to the myharmony page but hen i click on it and doesn't do as i though it would. This cant be for RF set up because this remote does not do that so im assuming it is for adding remote to your account.

Anyone have any issues or advise on how to add my other remotes to the online software platform? do i need to plug in that remote to be able to add it? will it transfer all setting that the current remote has on the online database?

I can reorder certain things, but it will not let me place a delay in between when it turns components on, and when it changes the inputs. So I can add a delay after everything, and then add other commands, BUT the commands it gives me do not include changing the input! If it allowed me to change the input a second time after I add a delay I wouldn't care. I'm going to have to hit up logitech and bug them.

Posted in the wrong thread earlier. Anyone know if there is a way to add more channels for Roku? For example it has Netflix by default but lacks Hulu Plus and Vudu (as an example). Haven't seen posts or methods on adding these?

Yeah I was having problems adding my other Harmony remotes. I even called support but got ahold of someone that I couldn't understand so it was no help whatsoever. But anyway yes you have to connect the other remotes you want to add and then launch myharmony. Unfortunately I didn't see a way to add the remote without starting fresh with said remote (in other words you can't upload what's on the remote to the website).

I've created a new set of custom activity icons for the Harmony Touch and they're up at http://www.iconharmony.com

Like I have with the favorite channel icons I will be taking requests for different versions. Check out this thread for more.

I'm not sure if this was covered but my eyes are going buggy searching so ill just ask. I have the 4 colored buttons at the bottom set to control my lighting but I have to be in an activity (so basically everything turned on) to use them. Is there a way to make those buttons active no matter what state the remote thinks the rest of the system is in?

On the remote go to "devices" choose your lighting device.

In the software You can assign any command to any button in "devices" just like you can in an activity.

I was trying to find a way to control the lights whether the theater was on or off. Like if I was in the room and wanted just lights, and not having to scroll through devices to turn them on. Think I have it close, added the lights to every activity as the colored buttons at the bottom.

Well the buttons do what I want as long as the system is on and no matter what activity I'm in. My problem is that once I hit "off" I can't control the lights anymore. Really hoping I find a workaround for this as I don't want the separate light remote laying around.

Well you can always from an "Off" state just go to the device and control them from there even though everything else is off or do as Tom suggests and set an activity for the lights themselves. I have a Lutron control and I just select the control as a device every time I want to control the lighting (even when I'm within a activity).

I figured that's what I'd be stuck doing. Sounds silly but I would love to just walk in the room and hit a button on the remote to control the lights without having to go through multiple steps in the menu. With the light remote, I pick it up and it works the lights. Not thrilled to have to scroll to a dedicated activity but it sounds like that's where I'm at. Thanks for the replies.

Dedicated light activity is a bad idea. Just add your light device to every activity and custom buttons for at least the room you're in. Another option is to simply use device mode for your lights. It's only one click there and a double click of the Devices or Activities button to get back to your current activity.

Okay, after reading all of this thread, I'm off to the rest if the Internet to see what kind of deal I can get on one of these "Touch" remotes and ordering it. Wish me luck! I've never owned a universal remote before, but as I'm now up to 6 device remotes, I think it's about time...

That seems like the best idea. You'd then use the "Lights" activity instead of "Off" to turn off your system. The Lights activity could be set to turn off all devices, so the remote would always be in that activity when you're not watching anything. Then keep the color buttons in every other activity for light control.

Explaining it that way makes much more sense, thanks. New question. When I first turn my system on, everything is on and set to the right input within 10 seconds, however, the touch stays on the "starting watch TV" screen with the transmit bars scrolling for a full (timed it) 60 seconds during which time nothing can be done. Really sucks if it was a little louder than I want when I last turned it off. My 650 had a delay but it was more like 15-20 seconds before I could do anything. Everything is set and ready before the 10 second mark so what on earth is it doing for the remaining 50 seconds? So far this is the only deal killer for this remote.

If you go to settings->change delays->select you tv->power on then you can select how fast it switches inputs and such on initial startup. I actually had to bump mine up to about 18 seconds. My Vizio takes about that long to fully boot up.

Fantastic, thank you. For some reason my projector was set to 60 seconds. I see no need for that because nothing ever changes on it other than power on/off. I dropped it to 10. Thanks again, greatly appreciated.

just sent an e-mail to Harmony support. Finally got round to attempting to add new sequences to this remote, heartened (I thought) by the ability to now have 10 step sequences rather than the miserly limit of 5 on past remotes.

However, I have discovered a major software flaw (I think). When setting up sequences, the number buttons for each device do not appear in the command set, despite being available to the device and in an activity. Hence, one cannot enter a code number as a sequence, as one cannot enter any numbers. Am I missing something obvious here?

Btw, I solved my PS3 shut down problem I was having. PS3 would operate as normal in an activity, but would not power down. Tried various fixes, and even contacted Logitech support (who reset the device settings to no avail). Finally solved it by adding the PS3 as 'PS3 Slim' (have the slim edition of the PS3, not the latest version). This solved it.. Just thought I'd share in case anyone else is having problems.

Bar these teething problems, I have to say I am coming round to the Touch. At the start, I much preferred the One, but now, having lived with the Touch for a few weeks, I have to say I find it much better to use and much better weighted in the hand than the One. The scrolling of the display works very well, and it feels much more like a premium device.

Let's just hope (a) I'm making some obvious mistake with sequences or (b) Logitech can sort it out. biggrin.gif

Thanks for posting that about the "slim" PS3 Barzo! I'm in the market for one of these and I have that model of playstation as well, so you probably just saved me a bunch of headaches!!!

I'm looking to purchase an universal remote (this will be my first uni remote ever). I'm leaning towards the Touch because it's the new kid on the block an seems to have all the bells and whistles. Am I making the right decision here?

There are so many factors in the decision and you have not provided any information on your requirements, e.g.,
- how many devices in your systems
- what equipment are you trying to control
- where are the located (now and in the future)
- how many people will be using the remote
- are you prepared to spend time customizing the remote

And most important, what is your budget?

I picked up a Touch just now. Still in the box! Will let you know my experiences in a couple of days. I only have a TV, Bluray player & Digital STB though. No sound system: bare minimum setup.

I purchased a Touch two nights ago at Best Buy, and so far I'm absolutely loving it! I've got it controlling:

- Samsung LED TV
- Samsung Sound Bar
- Playstation 3 Slim
- Xbox 360 Slim
- Motorola Cable Box/DVR
- Apple TV

This thing is wonderful! Looks really nice, feels great in my hand, and got the whole thing initially set up in about 30 minutes using the software on my iMac. I'm sure I'll need to do some tweaking, but other than that, I am really enjoying it!!!

Instead of using the "page up" & "page down" options via the DVR section in Settings, is there a way to easily access those functions? If I program two of the colour buttons to do so, will those colour buttons function when needed by TV or Bluray context menus? Thx.

EDIT: Realized that the options are in the 'watch tv' the activity. Cheers.
