I have Dish Network. IR remotes work great in the house.

The company has come out twice and charged me twice and they cannot get the remote to hit the receiver upstairs to change the channel in the shop.
The shop has a signal booster. On of the guys told me the remote was not trying to send the signal through the air back to the house, but, rather, back up the coax to the house. That did not sound right. But, I do not know, so he may be right.
Is there a booster, repeater, etc. that might work?
