I have a couple questions on this Pre/Pro. I've been living with this unit for a few months now and have a few observations, rants I'd like your input on.
1. My setup consists of 2.2 audio. When I first set the AV8801 up in my system I noticed that the subs' output was extraordinarily low without Audyssey on. I hate what Audyssey does to my Martin Logans with Music, TV and Movies so I don't want it on. The subs sound awesome in Dolby Digital or any other encoded surround format but they seem non existent without Audyssey in 2-channel Stereo content even with LFE+Main enabled. I've tweaked and tweaked and just cannot get the Pre/Pro to do anything even remotely close to my subs that Audyssey can do. That just isn't right. Every other AVR/AVP I've had in my system has been able to output a decent signal (2-channel content) to the subs without additional processing. I know about the Bypass L/R feature in Audyssey and how it's supposed to add Dynamic EQ, etc to all other channels except L/R. I know how to get to it in the menu but it's simply not listed as an option. The manual calls it out and several posts in this thread have mentioned it. Am I missing something? Where did it go? Why does this AVP seem to treat the little nice-ities I've come to appreciate over the years with such irregularity?
2. I recently updated to the latest firmware and since then my speakers are now popping whenever the AV8801 turns On/Off or mutes/un-mutes. It never did that before. Is anyone else experiencing this?
I apologize for the rant but these behaviors don't seem to embody what a flagship Preamp/Processor should be.
Any insight would be helpful.
